the department of education sent me a letter stating that wage garnishment will take effect but I haven't worked for that employer for a month now. my loans are deferred because I am in currently in school. Right now I have been looking for a job but with no luck. I have applied for unemployment but I haven't heard from them yet. I set an email to that department. What do I do? What will happen? I live with my parents, and they are helping me right now until I graduate.

If the DOE is threatening garnishment, your loans are defaulted, not in deferrment.

How are you paying for school? When you default on a student loan, you loose all financial aid eligibility.

I have a letter from Sallie Mae stating that my loans are not in default. I submitted it to the financial aid director at my school. I logged in to my account and it shows deferred as well as a letter from Sallie Mae stating my loans are deferred. While I was working I was making payments each month.
