Does obtaining a student loan also depends upon your credit score?

My daughter will go to college next year and for that I would have to take out a student loan. I am wondering will qualifying for a student loan depend on my credit score?

It depends. Generally, credit scores are not verified before granting your loan request. If you opt for federal student loans, your credit score may not matter much. But, private lenders may check your credit rating before offering you a loan.

Phil..if you cannot give a complete answer, do not answer.

Sub, unsub and perkins loans are NOT credit based and no credit is pulled. PLUS, Grad Plus and Private loans ARE credit based,
