I have to take out student loan for my future studies. I just want to know can me and my parents take out the loan together? I mean 50% of the requirement will be taken by my parents and the remaining 50% me?

Are you a dependent student or an independent one?

I think the Parent PLUS loan will be ideal for you if you are a dependent student.

Some lenders may give you this option depending on your credit score. But if you ask me, I would never suggest you to involve your parents on student loans. Spare them from this ordeal. You should take out a student loan in your name only.

Hi Jemene! Yes, you can ask your parent to take out a Parent PLUS Loan and be a co-signer of the same.

Moderator note. Plus loans are taken out by the parent for the benefit of student. There is NO cosigning by the studen.
