my mom cosigned on a school loan shes on ssi its gone into default can they touch her ssi
SS benefits cannot be garnished for the repayment of a non-feder
SS benefits cannot be garnished for the repayment of a non-federal student loan.
In case of federal student loans, SS benefits can be garnished at the rate of 15% of the amount over $750 or any amount over $750, whichever is less. If your SS paycheck is for $750 a month or less, it cannot be garnished.
