I have a student loan with sallie mae. Iam having trouble making payments, and sibe my only inco right now is ssi and ssd. The loan was already sent to a collector, the balance right now is the amount of $9,152.22. I can't afford to pay this whole amount. I can only pay either $50.00 or $ 75.00 a month. Can this creditor garnish my ssi money? I am not refusing to pay. I just need time to start paying

I don???t think a creditor can garnish social security benefits but I???m not very sure. In my case, I had a judgement against me but they couldn???t take my SSDI checks.
