My husband called to follow-up on his private loan and was told that it went to collections (dcs). They stated they tried contacting him and the co-signer of the loan, which at the time both of them had moved. No mail was forwarded or any notification via phone was done. Now his loans are here at this company dcs. I am reading all the bad stories about this company and we just want to make a good faith effort in paying. We are hard working middle income people. Any advise would be helpful on how to deal with this.

Your husband has defaulted on his private loan...not a good thing., The balance is now due in full and really, there is no such thing as a good faith payment. Private loans do sue as a matter of routine, so I would suggest you get together with the cosingor asap and find a way to get this paid off...they will sue both parties.

I can't speak about recent history, but when I defaulted on my student loan years ago, DCS was actually quite friendly and helpful with me.

But as Soaplady has said, when private loans default, you're in pretty hot water. Definately need to contact DCS immediately and get it worked out
