I graduated in 2008 and I have been paying every month on Keybank and ACS, both private loans. I even paid a large chunk of 10,000 to ACS last year yet ACS continues to harrass my co-signer every time I am late on a payment. I do pay every month and have not missed once. Yes I will admit i am late sometimes, maybe a few days and my co-signer will get phone calls and letters from ACS. He is tired. As for Key Bank, my loan was sold to them. My original loan I had said I was able to get my co-signer off as long as I pay for 2 years. In 2 years, to my surprise, I found out through a phone call that my loan was sold to Key Bank and Key bank will not allow my co signer to be released? my credit is not perfect. I cannot even consolidate if i want. What do I do? Please help me. However Keybank will not harass my co signer if he asked them not to call him or delete his number. I just want my co signer off both my loans. It is 2012 now and I have been paying since the day I graduated on July 2008.

It isnt going to happen....any cosignor release is usually done after the first 24 months of payment after the grace period ends...if you are late even one day, you loose the right. If you didnt qualify for that 2 year period and apply immediately, you outta luck now, especially with the loan sold.

Cosignor refusal to keep his info up to date with the lender could be grounds for default. You both entered into a contractual agreement to keep the lender aware of your phone number(s) at all time. Make your payments on time and the cosignor wont be called.

Thanks. Guess I am stuck with my co-signer. Do you think I can consolidate the 2 private loans and maybe a chance of taking my co-signer off? However I also have federal loan that is currently in deferment and a small collection. Not sure how my credit looks.
