My wife and I cosigned a student loan (Key Bank) for our child that recently died in a plane crash before he even graduated. Key bank wants us to pay up ?? Can this happen??

I am SOOOO sorry to hear of your sudden and tragic loss. What Key Bank is doing to you is disgusting in my opnion! There was a recent case last year involving a family in NJ who lost their son in a car wreck and were in a similar situation with cosigned private student loans. They went to the press and the story got some serious national attention to the point where some major banks will release consigners from their private student loans. I would urge you to do the same and expose Key Bank for their abhorrent greed! Call up all your local news stations and get your story out there!

I guess compassion is gone in America. I know Sallie Mae has insurance for that, why doesn't Key bank ? We can't afford the payments for a loan he is not going to ever need or use. Just does not seem right....we not only lost him but we lost his brother at the same time !

Co signed for my son theu Key Bank - there was a 2 year release option for cosigners based on on time payments. Found out today that Key Bamk has taken away this option even thought it was in force when the contract was signed. Stay away from Key Bank
