canmy wages be garnished for an student loan

i have been given many different answers but the thing is that i signed up for westwood with my husband who droped out for an ilness and i had to drop out we are sence getting a divorce and i cannot pay saliemae and they are threwatining to garnish my wages sue me for the forballance and hold my tax refunds if i do not pay them emidiatly my second question is that dept is an asset if i am getting a devorce in the state of texas can i give my ex my depts as part of our possestions because i never wished to attend in first place

Yes your wages can be garnished for a federal student loan even in the state of Texas. No court order required. They can also seize your tax return as well.

Assigning the debt to your spouse will not affect you being garnished. A divorce decree is not enforceable by your creditor. You will still owe it...they cannot pursue your ex.

if i do not pay them the ballance requested at the amount they requested but i give them what i can will they still be able to seize my taxes and garnishmy wages aslong as they are receiving some form of payment eventhough it is not the amount per payment they are requesting or is it up to them

Just sending any payment will not stop them from garnishing your wages. It is already possible that a lein has been placed on your 2010 taxes depending on when you defaulted.

Call them and tell then what you can afford based on your budget.Provide proof of your income and budget if they ask.

If they levy a bank account, they do not care who's money is in it. If your social security is on the account, everything in is fair game.
