Someone called my place of work and stated that they were gathering information on a person and wanted to know date of birth etc. When they were told that the company does not give out personal information they got mad and hung and kept calling, even when they were told the employer does not approved of calls of this sort. What is the Statute of Limitations for student loans

Susan,

Federally funded student loans have no SOL at all. You have to pay it once you borrow. There are certain mechanisms which you can adopt to stay current on your loan account. Some good repayment plans are also available. For more info please check the student debt consolidation segment of this forum.

I currently owe $121K on school loans - $45K plus $52K in interest. I receive only social security of $694/month and am retired at this point. The Dept of Ed took the recent Obama stimulus check of $250 toward it. Can they attach my social security check as well? Please advise.
