As most of you are aware, i was having trouble with our Director of Credit Union with a closed account. Well, thanks to someone (can't remember who) pointed me to the Electronic Transfer Fund Act. I sent them yet another letter, as well as a letter to the Attorney General requesting that they fine/sue my old credit union for failure to comply with it, based on evidence I supplied them (Including letters the letters I received from the Director)

Well no sooner then I send a request to the Our Attorney General, I get a letter in the mail today that the Director is re-opening my case and wants the credit union to respond by the 31st. I sent her all the letters I sent both to the payday lenders (with dates on them) as well the Credit Union.

Though it will not remove me from Chex Systems, the amount owed will be FAR less than what's being reported. I'm hoping the Credit union will see that they were at fault and remove me (fat chance) or more than likely reduce what they are requesting by crediting me several hundred dollars in Overdraft fees. While I didn't send these letters certified, I did send them and kept copies of all my letters.

So, the moral of the story.. don't give up... don't take no for an answer. (specially dealing with payday lenders and the government).

Our department of financial institution is dealing with a separate issue regarding one of my payday lenders, but i haven't received an outcome of that one yet. Last I heard they were "discussing" what avenues to take on the payday lenders latest letter, and would have a letter out in a couple days that was last Wednesday.

Thank you Karen, It's been hard work. Almost like another part time job, but in the end so worth it. I'm hoping to get a refund ,on one of my payday lenders (well two but they're currently working on one, but opened up a case on the other one) so i'm not going to bug them about the other one until the first one is resolved.

They did contact 500fastcash to let them know they were not licensed in my state, but they never received a response back from them.. like that's surprising!

The two i'm hoping to get a refund from are legal in the state of WI, but they presented the check three times in one day, and my account was already Overdrafted due to other payday lenders.

One of them came back at first said that since I signed a contract that gave them the right to go into my account whenever they wanted how ever many times they wanted. I went back to DFI and asked if that was true, that even if I signed the contract it trumps the law they said it didn't so they went back to them...and that's what i'm currently waiting to see an outcome on.
