This week I will make a final EPP payment on a loan that I have carried for almost 4 years!!!!!! My final payment of $145 will be made on Friday but it is hard for me to believe that I allowed this to happen. I am an intelligent person and I have no explanation as to why I was this stupid. Last week I made a final EPP payment on a loan I probably carried for over two years. It will feel good to be free of this burden but I am a perfect example of how bad these loans are for people and how difficult it is to get out from under once the vicious cycle starts. This is not a success story this is a plea to anyone considering taking one of these loans. When I stop and think how I have hurt myself and my family because of this I feel so ashamed but I can only go on from here.

do not feel that way.you are almost free of these.you have come a long way since you first came here.i'm proud of you my friend.

I started back in October with 15 Loans. I am down to 3 storefront and 2 internet. Of my three storefront one does offer an EPP but I had to pay the others first. I will go into the store before Friday and ask for the plan. The other two are not CFSA and do not offer any type of repayment options so I will have to deal with them last.

I dont know where I would be if I had not found this forum. I really cannot wait until it is all behind me. Thanks Paul!

I know how relieved you must feel to have these behind you. I think that we all learn from these experiences. I never thought I would be where I am right now. My husband doesn't even know and that is hard enough in itself keeping it from him. I'm stressed out all the time but I'm trying to take the necessary actions to get rid of them once and for all and NEVER take out a pdl AGAIN! I have 7 internet loans and I'm debating whether or not to settle them on my own or go with Langhorne. When you worked out payment plans with your lenders were they internet or storefront and were they plans reasonable? Did you have to wait until the loan went into default or did you contact them beforehand and let them know that you needed to work out a plan with them? I'm closing my bank account so they will find out soon enough. It's not that I don't want to pay them back, I borrowed the money and I should pay it back, but it is consuming my entire paycheck. I can't pay my household bills anymore and we have 3 children and 2 of them are in daycare. Our daycare alone is 250.00 a week. I feel so guilty about this. Once you work out a payment plan with them do they leave you alone as far as phone calls go?

I closed my bank account and only paid my illegal unlicensed internet lenders the amount originally borrowed not a penny more. However I did over pay some of them but did not receive a refund and I was fine with that as long as the account was marked PIF.

I made EPP arrangements with my legal lenders but I could only do so many at a time and just stayed afloat with the others paying the rollover fees until it was there turn. I had to rob peter to pay paul and call all my real creditors to make payment arrangements for my real bills while I was doing this. My real creditors were more than happy to help me as I have always been a good customer. I am sure a debt counselor would not agree with my method as they say keep your mortgage, car and other bills current but I managed to get them all taken care of without going over 30 days. It was the only way I could gain ground on the PDL's.

Once you make payment arrangements you will not be called.

Don't be ashamed Kfstaff...I was in the same boat...I was stuck in the pdl cycle of & on for 4 years and each time I told meself I would never do it again, but something always happened and they made it so easy to get the money & then more & more.

I made my last payment in Dec and have been PDL free technically since May 2008. You are doing a great job
