Went into debt about a year ago due to falling ill. Out of work for about 7 months so my bills fell behind. I ran up about $35,000 in credit card debt, mostly on my wachovia card and bank of America.

I have read on this board a lot of people are wondering how others are handling their debts so I wanted to tell you guys what I ended up doing. I got out of debt by using New Horizon Consumer Services. They put me in a debt settlement program that they settled my balances from $35000 to about $23000 and gave me a realistic monthly payment that I could actually afford.

I know they are members of some organization called assoc of settlement companies, I saw it listed on their web page so I checked that associations site and they are on there too.

If anyone wants to use them they are debt002.com

Dont be fooled by the above post

Metro, I am curious to know how you received a lower payment from one company to the next when debt consolidation companies all have the same interest rate reduction therefore, if you were given different quotes per monthly payments, there was an error somewhere or if there was that much of a significant difference then it must have been there fee but wait, most states have already regulated fee caps so that leaves us with only one option I suppose. Someone is full of it.

Or perhaps you are referring to debt settlement but that also couldnt be the case. They havent been open long enough to even register with the BBB let alone settle anyones debts so I guess that answers our question.
