I wanted to say a huge heartfelt Thank You to the community just for being here and sharing your wisdom!!

I live in CA and was drowning in debt from PDL's which, as we all know, were initially taken in good faith with every intention of being paid back. Needless to say, it didn't quite go down like that. I had initially taken two loans out, and paid one back in full and was making progress on the second and then, well, ended up with 8 different loans in the end and paying almost $1300 a month. They were:

Big Sky - 1st loan $00, 2nd loan $600 - paid: $1300
VIP - initial loan: $400 - paid $1800
United Loans - initial loan: $350 - paid $300 principal + $600 interest/fees
PayCheck Now - initial loan: $250; second loan $200 - paid: $900
Extra Cash Live - 1 loan for $150; 2nd loan for $400 - paid: $900
IdealGelt - $500 loan - paid: $400
AdvanceMeToday - $500 loan - paid: $360

I am currently working WITH my bank on the closure/freezing of the account these were drawn on, and have opened another account which is, at the moment, untouched. I have sent each and every company a Cease and Desist letter, even going so far as to request refunds where the overpayment was egregious and just this morning received my first well we don't agree with you, but we are considering your account paid in full letter.

YIPEE!!! Taking control of my life back has allowed me to dare to dream of actually saving money and going on vacatin this year! I couldn't have done it without all of you who have gone before - Thank you!!

-Judy

Jason - would be more than happy to share my experiences in getting a handle on this. The silence from the shame and embarasement we often feel for getting ourselves into these loans and such, further perpetuates the situation, which they count on! Talking about it, while embarassing, was the one thing that brought the most relief!

As to the PDL that sent the PIF, it was PayCheckNow, who comically also still tried to debt my account...........unscrupulous, unsavory annoying little buggers!
