Hi,

How about keeping (or selecting) one topic every week for deep discussions and analysis?

Let's start one topic every Monday, we will pick the topic from the following list:-

1) payday loan consolidation, settlement. How easy it is to consolidate one?

Vikas

Note: Please suggest other topics that we can choose one every Monday.

MisterBig....do you like the band, by chance?
Just wondering! Awesome band = Mr. Big!

Topics: how about things like, "getting by on the minimum" (which would be about living in debt---how it affects your life and those around you), or "ways to climb out of debt."
I definitely like the idea for "payday loan consolidation"

Vikas:

If you're going to offer a topic of the week, consider the attention it will take from other posts that users have made of the same topic. I think it would add confusion, to be honest. Being a forum, you can easily see which items are hot topics or recieve the most attention.

Perhaps if you picked an "off topic" issue once a week? That would be fun.

Hi cryptowizard

You might have noticed some of my topics in this 'Pub' section which I created with an intention to have some fun and impart knowledge. They are not the topics of hot debate and have been warmly welcomed by our community members.

You can start any topic of your choice and share with the community members.

Regards
Roxette

Hi,

I can suggest some topics to dig deep, like ???

1. Insufficient financial awareness among students is the cause of huge debt problem.
2. Debt collection task should not be outsourced.

I will post some more interesting headlines that need analysis.

Thanks
Bryan

I agree, as suggested by other members we will have to start topics which are a little off-topic. Also we can collect the already existing posts and then discuss on the issue.

It will be really helpful, please suggest more topics. I leave it to Sean (cryptowizard) to select one topic every week.

Welcome to the board Sean as a moderator :)

"1) payday loan consolidation, settlement. How easy it is to consolidate one?" is Vikas request for the first topic.

We will need other suggestions for the following weeks.

Vikas, would you like me to start a new thread for this topic so I can have the top (first) post and keep a running up-to-date list of topics from the users that post below me? I think that would be very efficient in the long run.

ohhh....

I figured we started the topic already. And then we'd be recommending new ones at the end...

ok..hmmm, what about

"How to clear your name when your spouse/significant other puts items such as utilities or other bills in your name (without your knowledge) either during or after the relationship."

 I figured.

I never had that problem, but I've watched it happen to others...pretty funny, but not funny at the same time!

Maybe, perhaps, we can stray from financial discussion in our topics sometime? Like "current events" or "music" or even "The War of 1812--Was it really worth it?"

lmao...kidding

see here's the kicker...

(s)he may of had you pay it a few months. so you're sending in checks with your signature or whathaveyou...

so when trying to prove this utility wasn't yours, you're going to have to try even harder, because you actually made payments on it.

---just a thought

Yep, I've seen that happen...pretty ridiculous...and it's very hard to prove that it's NOT YOUR bill, but theirs and then you have to try and convince the company that YOU wont be paying any of THEIR bills...It's a burden and a pain in the @$$.

Most of the time you still end up paying the bill...and if you're lucky it goes to court...

Mikey and Lindsey,

I can relate with the utilities. I am one who definitely tries to get everything in my name "just in case".

Student loans would be a good topic. Also, something along the lines of----"The truth when applying for a mortgage." I have run into this problem and found that depending on the lender, you will hear twelve different stories on getting the loan.

How about discussing on a topic in tracking the blocked calls. There are some companies that use different phone lines for incoming and outgoing calls. When that number is being called, it gives no response since it is not receiving incoming calls on that particular outgoing number. (I wonder if I am clear with this point :-? )

Also, some are blocked numbers whose numbers are not displayed. I wish we should know the ways to track them accurately.

Cummon guys and gals!! Throw some light over here.

Roxette

I know exactly what you are talking about. The company will call you.
You'll miss the call, call the number back on the caller-ID and you'll
get wee Wee WEEEP..."we're sorry, the number you are calling is not set
up to receive incoming calls." eeeee-eeeee-eeeeeee-eeee...

...something annoying like that

and so, this particular company never leaves messages. Probably set up
on a dialer. Same goes with telemarketing companies. By the time you
hear the super great offer about that credit card that is GUARANTEED A
$2000 credit limit, you ask about down payments or whatever, and they
tell you no.

So you listen more, and finally realize they need your banking
information. You tell them no, and by the time you can say please take
me off of your list, they hang up. So you try to call back, and get a
busy signal, or that message.

(am I close to what you were talking about Roxette)

One more topic struck up in my mind and I thought to immediately put it online. We should include this one too in our agenda.

We always hear in the forums about some type of scams and frauds happening in the internet about some companies. They need attention and that is the reason they come into focus.

But we need to do an extensive research while looking out for a good company that can meet our requirements. Let us create a thread of some real good experiences with companies dealt on the personal front.

Hopefully, I expect in the near future, this forum will be a huge.. huge.. database scripting all the good and not so good companies.

Vikas, do you like it? Folks, let's give the push.. :D

After a long long time bankruptcy laws are reformed at last and will be effective from October 17, 2005. It will be difficult to qualify for a bankruptcy then.

Will the credit card industry be benefited from the new rules? Is there nothing that protects consumer's interest? Let's have a discussion on this topic.

I'm going to start the topic of the week now. I will post details about it in the new thread, including what this week's topic is. Once the topic has expired, I'll have it formed into its own locked thread for future reference --and we'll start a new topic.
