Can my taxes differ due to different counties in a state? I stayed in Marion County half of the year and then shifted to Hamilton County in Indiana. Will my taxes differ?
Federal tax is same everywhere. It doesn't matter where
you stay. But the state tax laws vary from state to state. As far as
Indiana is concerned, county tax rates can vary depending on local
municipalities. The sales tax rate in Marion county is 7%. The sales tax
rate in Hamilton County is 7%. In your case, your taxes won't differ.
