My friends ss# end with 75, which we think she should be getting her rebate Friday, but when we check the irs site, it still says nothing. Has anyone had any luck with updates?

I haven't at all. Mine ends with 97 and it still tells me nothing. I check it daily as I figure they will be scheduling them daily and I was under the understanding once yours is actually scheduled it will show you the info but so far I'm getting nothing. I keep hoping soon mine will show something.

I did direct deposit and just checked again today and still no update on mine but my last digits are 97 and according to the schedule it won't be deposited until the 16th so I'm guessing it's not scheduled yet so that's why I'm getting no info. At least I hope that's the reason.

johnita -

If you used an online tax service like TurboTax, TaxAct or TaxCut, and had the fees for using their services taken out of your refund instead of paying for the fees by credit card, OR if you received a RAL (refund anticipation loan or "rapid refund"), you WILL NOT get your stimulus payment by direct deposit - it will be sent by check, according to the schedule for check mailings on irs. gov.

I've been telling everyone and their brother about this whole screw up by the IRS - not letting us know about the payments not going direct deposit if you had fees deducted from your refund or took an RAL. And you know what? Not one single person that I've told about it had any prior knowledge of it - not one. The IRS messed up big time on this one. Keeping millions of people in the dark and expecting money at a certain time, only to inform them a few days after it was supposed to arrive (or a few days before) that it won't be there....nice job, IRS.

I didn't have any fee's taken out of my refund. So I was thinking it should still be sticking with the may 16th schedule. But I still can't get any information when I use the lookup tool on the website. Has anyone in the last group of SSN numbers been able to get accurate information on when theirs would be deposited?

Thanks,
Johnita

girls at my job were on the IRS site today after I showed them they could look it up. One gal had already gotten her money on Tuesday this week, we put her info in and it came up with Tuesday's date. So we did someone else's information and it shows her check will be deposited next Tuesday, I wish I could remember what her last 2 are, I can ask her tomorrow.

I have to agree with Sue, they really did a bad job at advising everyone on the dates. Another friend at work was expecting her check tomorrow and I had to break the news that due to her taking her filing fee out of her refund it would be mailed--- ON JUNE 27th!!! Boy was she mad!

I din't have Direct Deposit ( I already knew the check would be mailed). However....I got some REALLY upset neighbors who thought they were getting Direct Deposits, too. They (two of them, anyway) got the RAL. Talk about some ticked off women!!

The IRS site does say that the "where's my stimulus payment" tool will not work until your payment is actually scheduled to be deposited. They say it will start showing your info about a week before your payment is scheduled to be deposited - but I wouldn't count on that - I've seen some people's payment info not show up until the day before it was deposited.

I checked my sister's for her today, and it shows it being deposited tomorrow. My other sister and I, on the other hand, are among the ones whose fees were deducted from the refund we received...so we get a paper check sometime late in June.

That's probably the IRS for us not be able to view the status until it's already in our bank account which at that point you wouldn't need to view the status you'd know it was there. Oh well, I will keep checking mine but I have a feeling it will be late next week before it updates for me.

Has anyone in the last group of SSN's that opted for direct deposit been able to get the where's my stimulus payment to actually tell them any information about their payment? I expected mine might start working today since it said you could use it able a week before yours was supposed to go in and according to the schedule that's Friday but so far it's still not updated and showing me anything just wondered if anyone else in the last group was having any luck viewing their information.

Thanks,
Johnita

Goudah,

I just looked up on my bank statement, for the federal it states:

REFUNDS NOW ERD FED XXXXX8483 012508

for the state it states:

STATE OF OHIO TAXREFUNDS 0000040053 012408

I believe that is right from the government, right?

No, I don't think so . . . . Did you get a rapid refund or get any fees taken out of your refund?

It looks like your state refund was from the state government, but the fed refund was not directly from the fed . . . .

Did you file your taxes online and have any of the fees associated with it taken directly out of your refund?

That is really strange . . . . I just did a quick google search and came up with this:

If it came directly from the fed gov, it would say US TREASURY for the deposit . . . .

I'm really sorry to say this, but it looks like for some reason you are getting a check. What I don't get though is if you didn't have any fees taken out or a refund loan, why wouldn't the deposit have come directly from the fed gov . . . .

I know of two people that did it thru the TaxTurbo and TaxActOnLine websites and got their's direct deposited. One was 02 last two #s of SS, got their money 5/2 and the other last two #s of SS, got their money 5/7. So I was able to track my refund on the irs.gov webpage and see what I was getting. Would that not mean I got my money right from the government?

goudah - no, I don't think she's confused - she said she checked her bank account and there was $300 extra in there that she hadn't accounted for, and when she called the bank, they looked it up and said it was her stimulus payment from US Treasury.

I don't think even the IRS has a handle on what's going on.

What i know is that the Fed Gov deposits refunds as US TREASURY, and if your deposit says anything else then it went through a third party before getting to you. You still would've been able to track your refund through the IRS site. That wouldn't have made any difference.

Sue - What I don't get is that when people had the fees taken out of their refund, the account info on the return wasn't the person's account, it was the third parties account. So the IRS wouldn't have your account info to do a direct deposit with in the first place . . . . There's got to be more to this story . . . .

It's 2 seperate forms that go out - They wouldn't necessarily have the same info on it.

I swear, if it came straight from the Fed Gov it would have said US TREASURY as the depositor.

Do a google search and you'll see that many people are asking the same thing you are, having the same words on their bank statements. What everyone is saying is that means paper check.

Guess I will let everyone know what I find out by May 16 since that is when I should get an update by since I am in the last group for direct deposits (if I am getting it that way). If not, guess it won't be until July 4, 2008 which is way off and a real drag to have to wait that long.

I thought from what TaxActOnLine.com told me that I was receiving my direct deposit from the government but I could be wrong.

This is all so confusing...

Refund Now is the bank that TaxAct uses to deposit the refunds when fees and such are deducted.

I'm curious what your boyfriends deposit was despoited under - US TREASURY or the same as yours . . . . It sounds like TaxAct may have messed this up for you. It should only go through Refund Now if you had fees deducted from the refund.

Also...I did the Federal and the government separately because the federal website was available before the state but it never requested any additional information but the state information and it still deposited it to my account without asking for the account information again...does not make sense. Who knows...guess I'll have to wait and see.

Just to clarify, it does state when I go back and look at how my check was sent for the regular tax refund, it was DIRECTLY DEPOSITED to my checking account. I believe this will be directly deposited to, I hope but at this stage in the game I would just like confirmation that I am getting the $$$$$$$$......

Mine when I looked at where my refund was deposited back in Feb mine says US Treasury and that is what I would think it should say if it came directly from the irs and didn't go through a 3rd party. My status though on the irs website updated this morning around 9:30 or so and was showing me that it's scheduled to be deposited on Friday the 16th. My last 2 digits are 97. So I figured I'd be one of the last ones to get it via direct deposit.

Hopefully yours is coming direct deposit too it's very frustrating with how all this has been going it's all been so confusing for everyone. The IRS I don't think really knew what was going on themselves for a while and only bits and pieces of information were released for everyone to have to try to make sense of.

I was very happy when mine finally updated this morning. I know a lot of people through have been quite angry to think they were getting direct deposit only to find out it's going to be a paper check. The time difference is quite long, I know for mine where it's direct deposit it's by May 16th but had it been paper check it would have jumped all the way to July 11th. I would have been upset had I thought I was getting direct deposit and find out I had to wait until July 11th. Does anyone know if they've actually started mailing out the checks? I know it says not until May 16th but I just wondered if they'd gotten ahead at all on these.
