can you tell me what it is for the state of nj... i bring home after tax 922.00 before is 1133.96

Current wage garnishment ruling for NJ:

The lessor of:
10% of gross OR
25% of disposal earnings

Cannot garnish gross wages of $154.50 or less a week (Source: 15 USC, 1671 et seq,: 29 C. F. R., 5870; N.J.S.A. 2A: 17-50).

Assuming the figures you gave are monthly that would equate to:

$113.40 (gross calculation)
$230.50 (net calculation)

So you would be paying the lesser amount of $113.40 UNLESS you can make reasonable defense to your employer about other necessary and required expenses that would reduce your "disposable" income - which would drop this.
