tax lien question

Hi. Unfortunately I had a tax lien filed against me even though I was on an installment agreement. Long story about IRS fibs. I don't even own any real estate. Anyway, since it hit my credit report I've gotten about 10 notices from these tax relief companies. I don't know how many, if any, are legit. I google the number and/or the name and nothing comes up so I'm suspicious. They send me these notices and right on the envelope in plain view it says tax lien filed, personal and confidential (yea right) or back tax notice or about your tax lien. Some even had a tax lien number. You get the gist. It this legal? They are basically advertising to the world that I have a tax lien. Can I report this to the attorney general or FTC or anyone? I had an appeal pending and am going to try to work this out on my own. I'm pretty suspicious of a company that says they can reduce my tax debt by 90%. They all sound like scams to me. Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated and thank you in advance.
