Can anyone tell me what is the standard deduction for 2018?

Standard deductions are increased in 2018 and the new tax filing session begins this January 29th. For filing taxes due in 2017, you need to use the previous tax laws.

Standard deductions for 2018:

1. Single individuals: $12,000
2. Head of household: $18,000
3. Married filing separately: $12,000
4. Married filing jointly: $24,000

Best of luck!

Nice article. Well researched. Personal exemptions have been erased. So we all have to depend on standard deduction for saving money.

Another interesting point. Medical expense deduction has been dropped to 7.5%.
