if you get a letter stating the rebate amount do that actually mean that you will get the specific amount


I'm not sure about your specific question, but here is some information that I found. You will not be eligible for a stimulus payment if "you have non-tax federal debts such as unpaid student loans or child-support obligations that reduced your payment.
If the IRS is reducing or seizing your stimulus check, they are supposed to mail you a letter of explanation." (found at www(dot)hcmmlaw.com/blog/2008/06/02/if-you-owe-back-support-don%E2%80%99t-expect-your-stimulus-check/

So it sounds like you wouldn't get the stimulus check if you owe child support. However, since they mailed you a letter that says you will get it, and they didn't mail you a letter saying that you won't, then maybe you will. Or maybe they just haven't matched up all of their records yet.

We still haven't recieved our check. It was suposed to come May 2nd. Thank you
