I will do my investigation here with the postal department and confirm the date of the letter sent. A letter should presumably not take so many days to reach the destination. It must be one of the shady tactics used by United Legal Corp.
You should send your debt validation letter to the company urging for complete information of the account. Send your letter through certified mail with return receipt requested.
All I can advice you is to be a little careful while dealing with United Legal. Lots of complaints are filed against them.

Roxette, thank you for your fast response, it's appreciated! So I should still send the certified letter even though they won't get it within the 30 days? Would you advise against faxing it just to have something in writing to them? Thanks again

You can send it through fax as well but I will also send the letter through certified mail. I will do my homework so that I have covered my basis. :)

Thanks, I will do both. I called the correct post office in Jacksonville and they said that while I can't prove they waited to send the letter because of the no postmark, they also can't prove when they sent it....she suggested I be firm with them if they argued with me about it, I have a feeling they have seen this kind of thing before. Thank you for the help!

This means that the mail is sent to you by fake means. If the postal authorities don't have their stamps on it, how can it be termed a legitimate mail? Keep this as a proof of illegal trick used by the company.

That's a good point, I will keep everything together in case they push this, hopefully they will cooperate but at least I know my rights thanks to this forum!

debt validation
United Legal did this to me as well, with the validation letter I sent them a copy of the letter and envelope showing I knew what they were up too. In addition, you can always ask for debt validation, even after the 30 day period

I receive mail all the time vromvarous sources which has not date stamp on it. Usually it is mail for which the sender has a bulk mailing permit rather than using metered mail or regular postage. It doesnt necessarily meant the mail was sent through "false" means, but as stated they also can not prove when they mailed the letter either.

Yes, I also received two letters with postmarks that were dated October 21, 2005 but I did not receive them until November 21, 2005. Does it take them 30 days to send a letter or do they date it how they want to?

A letter should not be placed with dates of the company's choice. If this happens, it is definitely not legal.

I received a call from united legal, when I asked for written correspondence, i was told they sent one on May 11, to this day I still have not received anything. I can't get over how mean the woman that I talked to was.I have never felt like such a loser in my whole life.

I missed a call on my cell phone today with a 904 area code and when I called it back I got a recording from United Legal Corp. I ran upon this message board while doing research on them. I don't have a clue as to why they were trying to contact me. :?:
United Legal might be calling you for a debt you had in the past
United Legal might be calling you for a debt you had in the past. As per the federal laws, you must get the details of the debt in writing before sending any money. The CA is bound to follow the fdcpa laws of debt validation. Read this:

Howdy, appreciate it. A new POV is definitely appreciated. I have been wanting to know if you read goals4profit as yet. Richard's guide on matched betting is astonishing. He is not fooling regarding the support, either. Each time I had a question, I would have a response within 24 hours (usually without delay). I've been earning profits routinely ever since I bought the book. The only way you wouldn't earn is if you don't work with what you learn. I mean it. Don't wait, there's money to be made .
