Has anyone had communication with a company called Universal Fidelity?

What are they like?

I have also dealt with a very rude woman named Ms. Hawkins. I am trying to make arrangements and she said it wasn't good enough and was very ugly. She had me in tears. I guess that's why she has this job.

All the other posts here sounds a lot like my dealings with UF. Have had conversations with rude people and those who are nice. I don't envy their job, but I'm also no criminal. I apparently owe a $100 debt at Macy's, an account I had not used in 7 years and have since changed addreses and applied for loans and mortgages during that span and the debt never cropped up. One UF lady accused me of evading the collections agency and said they were gonna call me every day and harass me until I paid the debt. She wanted to know why I have ignored the debt over the years and asked, sarcastically, if I ignore my mortgage payment as well. When I laughed, she asked what I thought was funny, and I said that a mortgage was a lot different than neglecting a $100 dept store charge I had not used in 7 years. Well, I have a 5-letter word for that gal, and it starts with a B. What kills me, is that they expected me to pay over the phone with a credit card, even though I had no written document from them or Macy's detailing what I owe. In another conversation with another UF gal who insisted I pay over the phone with a credit card, I dropped an F bomb and said no way was I gonna do that without receiving something in the mail. She then screamed at me and hung up. RE one of the other posts here, when I asked for details of the debt, another UF contact told me to contact Macy's, but Macy's has no idea who I am, since they handed over the account and collections to UF. Very aggravating to say the least.

Don't give them any of your personal info- banking included, or they will wipe you out.

Send them a debt validation letter and make them prove it's your debt, you owe it, and the SOL has not expired. Sending them a payment, or agreeing you owe it can start the clock up again.

This company as well as their other dbas, usually will not validate and harass you, send them the letter certified, return receipt..Good Luck..KAren

"I don't even care about what the debt is for or where it came from, they're going to pay it, and maybe even pay off my college loans too because if I find out if it was for those or any balance, they're going to pay it for multiple fdcpa violations. " If this quote not generated by a UFC agent, I'll add that when I returned a caller ID call, "UFC", I was put on hold and asked to wait until it was unreasonable to wait anymore. There is no way to write them as their message to my voicemail is insufficient. I say here, cease and desist all attempts to collect the debt. I prefer to be hired and pay them to the original company. I predict my state will head in this direction once the economy proves collectors, the housing industry, and unemployment due to companies leaving are the only reason the debt problem exists.
UFC never allows me the opportunity to speak this to them or learn their address to write an order to cease contact. They simply called when I hooked up a phone. Don't know why they think they own my loan or why they bother to repeat untimely calls to someone whose wage it is illegal to garnish. Social Security (disability) is a govt. income which UFC is not allowed to touch. As many of us writing here have degrees, (student loans) why are these agencies not offering us jobs? How is it UFC knows when I am not able to answer? Odd, that.

Oh my god!!!! Its again Universal Fidelity. My friend has been receiving calls from them and dealing with them is REALLY REALLY REALLY TIRING. They have been calling her for the past few weeks. The calls are pretty much abusive and intimidating. Every time she picks up the call, they threaten her with dire consequences. Despite her best efforts to tell them that she doent owe this debt, the Universal Fidelity is not listening. They are simply BAD.

Once again- send them a letter and a debt validation also. If this debt is not yours, or it is paid- sned them info that it is paid, and to cease and desist from contacting you.

They are well know to try to collect on debts, along with their partners-LVNV, that aren't yours..Good Luck..Karen

Also, search them using the box at the top of your screen and see how others have dealt with them

I keep getting a call from them, like 5 times at least everyday. All it says is they aren't a telemarketing company and that I should call them on this number. It's not even a real person! I don't get it though because I AM NOT EVEN 18 YET. WHO COULD I POSSIBLY OWE MONEY TO?

I had the worst experience with the person who answered the phone. Not only are you on hold for 10 minutes or more but she transfers you mid sentence and when you call back she asks why you keep calling. When I asked to speak to a manager/supervisor I'm told no one is available. When I asked to have the person who left me the message call me back I could not even get my contact number out of my mouth before I was hung up on! I asked this person for her name, she advised Pilar. God help anyone who deals with her!! The lack of customer service skills is amazing.

Received a call claiming "urgent" from a Universal Fidelity person, Rick Baker. He did not give any indication that it was a collection action and his representation was bogus. I called to get information from them and they would give me no information. There is something very misleading, and I suspect fraudulent about this company. BEWARE!!! I have asked for additional information and have received none.

I too am receiving 6-8 phonecalls from them a day. They refused to give me an addresss so I can send a cease phone communication letter to them. My calls are for an American Express debt but I am having to file bankruptcy due to over $25K in medical bills that were denied by my insurance company and am now disabled. Also, FYI, the guy who is calling me says his name is Ray, is foreign and I aasked him if he was in the US and he said no. Sounds like this is being outsourced to India, based on the guy's accent.
He too was rude, constantly interrupting me, etc. AARRGGHH!!!!!!

She may have used u as a reference or these collection agencies do what's called skip tracing.... they seem to be able to contact anyone or their family!
I'd get the information on them and send them a debt validation letter along with cease and desist. Make sure to send it return reciept requested.
Good Luck,

This comany is calling MY home for something concerning my MOTHER who has been dead for over 2 months. I screen all my calls and have never spoken with them, but on the advice of my attorney, I am NOT returning their calls, and will answer no letters addressed to my mother. Has anyone else had this type of issue with this company. I have no idea what debts she had and have no way of knowing now.

I think UF is one of the companies associated with LVNV. I have heard they collect on everything from bills with Fingerhut to old Sears accounts.

They are third party, junk debt buyers. They buy old debts or charged off debts for pennies on the dollar and try to collect from people.

Your attorney is right, don't talk to them- they are ruthless in ther practices. Just follow what your attorney says, and you will be ok!!..KAren

I can't believe how rude these people are. I have been getting phone calls from them also about a Macy's account that I don't have. They keep telling me that when they called me a month ago that I agreed to settle with them and now I am telling them that I don't have a Macy's card. Who are these people? Also one of the agents told me that they would be calling me everyday until I pay. I called the Police Dept. to file but they say that I need proof/ credit report to show that the account was oppened. I got my credit report and there is no current Macy's account card on there. I had one 10 years ago that was closed about a few months after I got it and there is no balance on it. It feels like these guys are not legit. I wouldn't pay them any money even if I owed money on a card. I just don't trust them. I called them again this morning to get more info on the card so I can really figure out what to do about it and the agent who answered my call was really rude and said that I had agreed to pay and that now I am denying the fact that I have a Macy's card and just hung up the phone. Unbelievable.

Send them a request for debt validation and a Cease and Desist letter, that they only contact you through the mail.

You are right, some of them are rude, etc., that's why it is better to communicate through the mail.

Inform them in the letter, you don't have a card with Macys, that you have been telling them this, and you want debt validation-they won't be able to give it to you!Send all correspondence certified, return receipt, and make copies of everything!

Good Luck..Karen

If you want universal to learn they're lesson for harassing consumers then file a complaint with the attorney general in your state, make sure to include the representative's name as well as the representative's managers name, they get in huge trouble for these complaints, it's the only complaints that they are worried about. Trust me, i used to work there, they are some shady characters.

We moved to a new town in Feb. and we keep getting calls for the person who used to have this number.

The UF people are driving me crazy. The call all the time, but when we answer its just a recording saying they cannot give details out over the phone and to call their number back.

A 281 area code. I tried calling once and got put on hold forever, literally like 45 mins until my ear was just dead and I hung up.

I call a lot of times and it just rings and rings and no one ever answers, even though they say to call by 9pm. I just called 2 mins after receiving their recorded message tonight, and again no one answered.

Uggghhhhh!!!! LOL It really is driving my hubby and I crazy. We have had our number now for 6 months and dont want to change it, but its getting to the point we may have to. I really dont think this call is for us, I think its for one of the three (wrong numbers) people who used to have the number and we are always getting calls for.

People are very rude about it too, we try to explain that we just moved here and got this number and they have the wrong house... but its like they never believe it and continue to call back.

OK UFLP IS NOT A DEBT BUYER-GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT-THEY ARE A COLLECTION AGENCY HIRED BY CLIENTS TO COLLECT DEBTS THAT THEIR "CUSTOMERS" HAVEN'T PAID. HOW CAN YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT THE CALLS? YOU OWE MONEY!!!! THEY ARE CALLING SO YOU CAN HONOR YOUR AGREEMENT AND PAY BACK MONEY YOU OWE. I WAS IN COLLECTIONS FOR ONE ACCOUNT AND I PAID IT- ITS SAD THAT PEOPLE HAVE SO MUCH DEBT AND GET MAD WHEN COMPANYS CALL THEM ABOUT IT.

I received about 40 calls from these crooks so far, they are trying to collect somthing from a credit card I had about 11 years ago, it was a semi company credit card so I would carry a balance around 10,000 every month and it was payed off every month. I closed it when i sold my business and now after 11 years they claim i own them $240. What a joke, i ask them to send proof, they do nothing, just keep calling whith the same old line, "how would you like to take care of this today sir" i say fcuk off and stop calling me. its been months now since they started calling, no letter just rude phone calls. I suspect this company collects uncollectable debts and just harrasses people till the finally pay somthing, crooks. of the 10+ times i've actually picked up the phone and talked to them I noticed they were all Indian, some low cost outfit that just bulk call you all day. I've now come to the point where if i have time I will pick up the phone and just goof around with them, like pretend I;m interested in this and then start talking about somthing entirely different. i'll bet they now have over 2 hours on the phone with me for somthing I dont owe and wont pay, even to make them stop calling. Tell them to fcuk off.

True JC but obviously they are NOT working under the law cuz after a phone call they have 5 days to send u written notice and seems like he never got that either. So there's another violation!
Hell keep track, u may rack up some $$ if u can find an atty to take it on!
Also make sure to look at ur credit reports to see if they're reporting this!
Good Luck,
Ang

Just got a phone call from these guys and at first I was talking to a lady trying to make arrangements on an account then a gentleman came on didn't give his name and said he hadn't heard me try to arrange anything and he started threatening to take my house and garnish my wages. Then I got my husband up to talk to him and they hung up on him.

If they said they were going to do it and have not sued you, they have 30 days to do so or they will be in violation of the fdcpa. You see placing liens on property and wage garnishment (in most states) functions that are awarded by a magistrate after a person has been sued and lost. They cannot make threats of lawsuit if they cannot or do not intend to do so. Could you give me a little more information on the debt.
1. What type of debt?
2. When was it generated?
3. When did it go deliquent
4. When was the last time you made a payment on it?
5. What state do you live in?

I just had the worst encounter with these people! I had set up payment arrangements with them, with a payment plan of every 2 weeks. The debt(with Sprint) was to be paid off in 3 payments. Well, they took the payment out early and sent my bank account into the negative. When I called them, I got hung up on once & transfered about 12 times having to explain the story over & over. Finally a manager got on the phone & was so rude! I am in fact in tears at this point because I am soooo angry! Anyway, he told me that I am not an adult, not to tell him how to do his job & if I wanted to stop payment on the charge I can. He said he doesn't really care about my "little" payment and that it will not "make or break" their company! His name (he claims....) was Mr. Jones. What a JERK!!!!

I can't agree more with this string. Apparently, I owed Macy's $100 from 2002. I pay my bills when I get them... I hadn't received a bill from Macy's. I was called all sorts of names by the UF agent (Ms. Conneley) and then she hung up on me after I stated that she was rude and that I wouldn't give her my CC number. She said she would perform a credit request and that it would be on my record if I didn't cooperate. Anyway, I am going to boycott Macy's until they end their contract with UF. I think we need to end using companies that would hire such low life companies such as UF.

Universal Fidelity keeps calling me asking fo rthe previous homeowner that moved away 10 months ago. The caller identifies himself as Rick Baker.
I keep telling this guy that the person he wants no longer lives here but he insists on the continued calls. He asks if I know the persons number, address, family names etc. When I tell him no, he justs sighs and there is this real long pause on the phone like he's mad at me. I think he keeps calling me because my name and the persons name is very similer. Strange but true.

Send them a complete C&D letter. Send it certified mail, return reciept requested. And keep a copy along with the little green card showing they signed for it. When they keep calling, document everything. Then sue the pants off of them for violation of fdcpa, harrassment, and anything else you can think of. Best of luck!

I dealt with UF about a year ago-at that time they were a DBA of LVNV-so don't expect anything but problems! Make sure you document evrything!!Keep copies of all correspondence and phone calls too.

When they find out you know your rights, they will either not bother you anymore and pass it to another agency, or they start getting nicer!! Best of luck..Karen :D

Universal Fidelity is a collection agency. They never sent me any bill stating what monies I am suppose to owe them. I am a disabled veteran with limited funds so and a victim of fraud and identity theft along with paying off my own bills. I sent them a cease communication letter to:

Universal Fidelity LP
1445 Langham Creek Drive
Houston, TX 77084
281-550-1444
800-807-1439

I hope this helps someone,

They never sent me anything --now they say I owe $15.00 to a defunct company IE "Net bank" ( if anything they went under and owe me the money that was in my bank accounts)----from 2004
The lady got really rude with me when I asked for written proof of the debt--and said "just pay your bills" and hung up.

Hi - I have received numerous calls from these people attempting to collect on my ex boyfriend's account. I am no longer on this account and the credit card company has written a letter for me to fax confirming I am not responsible for this account. I have faxed it several times. What is the proper procedure for getting rid of these people and making them pay for harrassing me? They are so rude to deal with and hang up on me before I can ever say anything yet will not stop calling me. Should I call my lawyer? How do I build a case against them?

Well, first thing you need to do is send them a written request to cease all communication with you. If you wish you can send them a copy of the release of liability. As far as taking civil action, I suppose you might be able to push fdcpa violation as you no longer have any association with the person in question. Unless you already have a attorney in mind that has knowledge of the FDCPA then I would suggest referencing naca.net as a good start.

Be sure you get a consultation first to make sure you have a case.
