Few days back, I wrote some amazing facts about human body at this page

I really get mesmerized when I come to know the following facts. Today, I feel like sharing the same with you.

  • Usually, an average human being has 100000 hairs on the head. Everyday 50 to 100 hairs are lost from our head but they are replaced the same day.

  • The air blown out from a sneeze can travel at a speed of 100 mph and the air blown from a cough can travel at 60 mph speed.

  • On an average, a person drinks 16000 gallons of water in his lifetime.

  • The time taken to grow a nail from the base to the extreme tip is usually 6 months.

  • A baby has 94 bones more than an adult.

  • On an average, a human being blinks 25 times in a minute. Thus, it's approximately 6.205.000 times in a year!

  • When you will reach the age of 70, your heart must have beaten 2.5 billion times and pumped 48.000.000 gallons of blood.

  • Our body contains the following: Sulphur, which is enough to kill all the fleas present in a dog; carbon, which is enough to make 900 pencils; potassium, which is enough to fire a toy cannon; fat, which is enough to make 7 bars of soap, phosphorus, which is enough to make 2,200 match-heads; and water, which is enough to fill a tank of ten-gallon capacity.

  • An average human being produces a quart of saliva everyday, 10.000 gallons in a lifetime.

  • Do you know that every square of human skin has 32 million bacteria on it?

  • Do you know that ears and nose also keep growing during the whole life?

  • On an average, a person sleeps 20 years in his lifetime.

  • A normal heart beats around 70 times in a minute and each time it beats, it pumps about a cupful of blood.

  • One half of the bones in the human body are only located in hands and feet. The muscles only make up one-half of your body weight.

I will again come up with something new and keep you astonished with the unknown facts.

Take care and chill

Regards
Roxette

Hi Roxette,

You are giving so many statistics. What is the source of your knowledge? Please tell me how many stars are there in the sky?

First of all everybody will think that what will be the benefit of knowing these information. But one thing I can say that it will help a person to win a quiz contest and to win lots of prizes.

I am thinking that a person getting punishment for lifetime imprisonment has to stay inside the jail for 12 to 14 years but we are sleeping for 20 years in our whole life means two decades. So we should decrease our sleeping time.

Last of all Good work. Keep it up. :o

These are some wonderful facts given by Roxette. Any body like me, will be quite surprised to know that so much of work is getting done by us even when we are taking rest. Even the laziest people can say - look I am busy throughout my life and so, I can't accept any more assignments. It is amazing to know that we are having such a rich ore within us, when natural underground material is getting exhausted from earth fast with constant development. Waiting for more blasts from you Roxette

Hi Rosie

Earlier I felt that the number of stars in the sky is the same as the number of waves in the oceans. But after doing a research on the Labor Day, I found that there are an estimated 10^10 (10 billion) stars in the Milky Way. There are an estimated 10^10 galaxies in the universe.

If you meant how many can be seen in the night sky, then it might be around 10^1 0 or a few thousands on a good clear night.

Keep guessing :D

Roxette
