Hi simms,
Unfortunately, you have all those accounts that most of the consumers here are having problems. Most of your accounts might have gone past the SOL period. Check the laws in your state before you consider the SOL. You won't be under any legal obligation to pay the account.
As Asset Acceptance is also there in your file, so chances of incorrect reporting in your file might also be there. The first thing that you need to do is to review your file thoroughly and find out the items that you think is incorrect. Highlight those items and dispute with the bureaus. They will run an investigation with the company and get the correct details.
It will be also better to contact each of your lenders and request the statements in writing. Review the details properly so that you can work out arrangements with them.
Since you have not been in the States for a period of five years, check the debts that are within the SOL period. I guess most of them have run out. In case, you make a payment activity, they will come back within the legal collection period and you will be forced to pay those accounts if you default. Do not make a payment agreement until you have everything straightened out. Register with us in this site and everyone will guide you in the right direction.
Trans Union
Trans Union usualy has the most accurate upto date information. If you pulled the one from the Trans Union web site it should (at least mine did.. some debt go back 6 years) list the ogiginal creditors. As well as phone numbers if not an address to each agency. It should also list a date when each file will fall off your credit report.
You can dispute Tran Union and Experian items online but I believe you have to mail in for Experian.
I suggest contacting each of the original creditors and finding out which agency has what. You don't need an account number, just your social and date of birth.
