How do debts that have been paid off, but are still listed as "unpaid" on my credit report affect my credit rating? They are the only two derogatory things on there but they were paid over 3 years ago

Hi jon_ness105

Welcome to the forums. If a paid account is shown "Unpaid" in your credit report, it has a serious impact on your credit worthiness as the creditors will assume that you were not responsible in paying off your past debt.

Also, all your efforts of your payment made towards the particular debt will go in waste if it is not prominently highlighted in your credit report.

You should highlight the two derogatory remarks and dispute them with the credit bureau. They will conduct an investigation with your information providers and update your report within 30 days. In the meantime, you can also pull your report from the other two bureaus and compare it.

Remember, your credit report is a prestigious financial document which analyzes your worthiness and it should be seen accurately by your creditors.
