Any advice for dealing with payday lenders in WI?
Date: Tue, 06/26/2007 - 18:17
EZ Money, Check n' GO, American Cash 2 Go, Northstar, Cashworks and PLS.
(I actually have an installment loan & a payday loan with American Cash 2 Go)
and an installment loan with USA Payday. And finally, I have one internet loan with Cash Net USA. I am worried sick and really need help as everything is finally going to come crashing down on me. It is very comforting to find out that so many people are or have been in the situation that I am in. I feel like there may be some hope but I really need some specific advice quickly. I am very ashamed that I resorted to these places and have been in denial and trying to act like everything is fine when it definitely is not.
Any help or advice for dealing with payday lenders in WI would be greatly appreciated!
The best thing you can do with the store fronts is try and make
The best thing you can do with the store fronts is try and make reasonable arrangements that you can afford. Store front lenders are licensed and can take you to court and get a judgement. There is no need to feel ashamed. We have all been there and are here to help you through this. As for the internet pdl, they are not going to garnish your wages, have you arrested or anything like that. If you have paid CashNet the amount you borrowed, then you need to send them a letter demanding the account be marked paid in full.
Ok first of all you need to contact the store front lenders and
Ok first of all you need to contact the store front lenders and let them know your situation and see what they can do for you. Try and set up arrangements with them. They will have to send your check through and it will come back to them NSF. The store fronts are licensed in WI so you need to deal with these first, because they can and will take you to court.
Do feel bad because you went to these places, I have been there and I also live in WI, I had 10 internet and 10 storefront loans out at one time. I know what you are going through. I defaulted on my check n go loans back in Nov. and just got letters from the CA that bought them yesterday in the mail. So if you default on them they will keep your check in the store for awhile before they send it to a 3rd party colledctions. So with them you will have time to work with them.
As for the others I haven't dealt with them. I am sorry I could help more on your payday loans. All I can say is do not close your account until you talk with the storefront lenders first. Because it won't look good incase one of them decideds to take you to court.
Cashnet USA is going to be licensed, and should also be followin
Cashnet USA is going to be licensed, and should also be following the laws of WI. They tend to be difficult when setting up payment arrangements, but what many have done is just send them an money order ($10, $20, whatever you can afford) every month with a letter stating your payment plan. They will cash the MO, but they won't agree to the plan. But as long as they are receiving regular money they aren't going to try to sue you or anything like that, although they may still call. If they do call, just tell them your payment plan, and hang up.
The installment loans are different then the payday loans. Call the companies and explain your situation. They may lower your interest or allow you to skip a payment to help get caught up. But they may also be very hard to work with.
I'd also recommend calling your states dept of banking. They may have some advice on dealing with the installment loans.
