My husband and I spoke to someone at Consumer credit counseling of America on Monday. They are associated with Hess Kennedy as the law firm does the legal work for them. We are concerned that as we have not signed the contract but CCS of A is telling us the first payment is still going to be automatically drafted from our bank account.
We spoke to someone at CCS of A today and informed them we would not be continuing with the application process. We have NOT signed the contract and our application has been cancelled with CCS of A. But they still want their first payment.
Has anybody gone through this same situation with Hess Kennedy or companies dealing with them? And were you forced to pay the initial fee? Is there a way out of paying the initial fee? Or are we screwed?

Relax, money will not be taken out of your account since you have not signed the contract with CCCA. Someone in the past addressed similar issue and the company attorney of HK responded to the person with positive approach. Money has not been taken out from her checking account as of today. You should talk with the supervisor of the company and get this matter straight. There might be some communication gap due to which you are feeling scared. You will see a similar thread somewhere in this forum.

I went through the EXACT same thing with them last week. How odd that this situation continues to happen to people when supposedly this is not their practice. Everyone I spoke to at CCCA/Hess Kennedy advised me the first draft was going to occur regardless of wether I decided to go with their program or not. It was not until I posted my problem with this company on this website that I received a response. In the end, it did work out ok and I am happy about that. Unfortunate, that I had such a terrible experience with a company I turned to for help. My story is in my thread titled CCCA/Hess Kennedy.

Hollieberrie. Please email us your cancellation request in writing to cccofamerica(at)aol.com. Your account will not be charged!

Ms. G. Your account was never charged like we told you correct?

Due to the size of our company it takes a few weeks to retrain every counselor. We are currently in the process of having a special department handle cancels. I am sorry for the confusion but your account will not be charged. Please email your request.

Good luck!

Please remember, short of an injunction prohibited a company from calling you, the only thing the law firm can do regarding harassing phone calls is address abusive or misleading statements and third part debt collector calls.

Please ensure that if you are being called you idenitfy who is calling, who they represent, their number and fax number. The firm will address the substance and frequency of the calls.

As far as time frame to settle accounts, we have seen some settle in 4 months and others take 6 months. No one can guarentee the time frame.

What is most important is taking any additional savings you have each month and putting it into a money market fund that compounds interest. In 2 years you will have a nice amount of money saved.

I have read all the posts and what you read on here is very true. Don't be fooled by Hess Kennedy & Company of Coral Springs, FL. Why would people go through all the trouble to post on here if Hess Kennedy helped them the way they said they would.
I am very upset at Hess Kennedy and myself for believing these so called lawyers would help me. Hess Kennedy & Company will help themselves to your money and leave you worse off than before you signed up for there fraudulent actions/services. Please contact me if I can ask/answer any questions or if you like to join forces to expose these frauds. My contact info is hess.kennedy.fraud at hotmail dot com. I look forward to hearing from others who were defrauded by Hess Kennedy & Company.
The other names these frauds go by are:
1.) Superior Debt Services
2.) HK Credit Services
3.) consumer credit counseling
4.) Credit Counseling of America
5.) First Consumer debt consolidation

If you know of more names please post them on here. Your days are numbered Hess Kennedy & Co.!
