debt consolidation in Indiana

My concern is that it seems that Superior Debt doesn't do debt consolidation, which is what I am interested in for a number of reasons. Although we have a large amount of unsecured debt ("my story" is in the my story forum...too lengthy to go into here again), I feel that I can afford to pay a fairly good amount each month, especially if the interest rates are reduced substantially and other charges. We had been able to get by paying the minimum but with those increasing over the past months, there is no way in... to do that. I want to prove to myself that this is the way to go, and do it diligently.
My question is, I am wondering why when I originally signed up did I get sent to Superior Debt...which seems to not be in Indiana or do consolidation? I am not mad or anything, just wondering how that happens. Does anyone have any experience in dealing with a reputable cosolidation program in Indiana...or at least a reputable one in the US that deals with large amounts? I really want to get this rolling...
I am literally worrying myself sick throughout all this. As I am sure has happened to most in this site one time or the other, I have had "brief" thoughts that it would be better off if I was not around. Not that I would do that, because I wouldn't...at all.
Thank you to everyone that has listened to me this week and offered suggestions...it is amazing the amount of information I have found at this site.

I have one other question that has popped up while reading thru past forum entries... Is debt consolidation Care an actual debt consolidation agency or is it portion of this yesdebtfree.org website. I am a bit confused by all this stuff (doesn't take much...), but it seems that some have actually worked specifically with Debt Consolidation Care as their consolidation agency.
I may be reading that all wrong and really just wanting to make sure, as I am looking for the best possible consolidation agency for my situation.
thanks.

I feel that the system picks the consolidation company from the ranking chart compiled in the page below. From what I have understood so far, the system picks the company closer to an area and the total amount of debt entered in it. There might be criteria that certain companies will work with specific amount of debts only. Have a look at the ranking chart below and know the companies doing consolidation in your location.

Both consolidation and settlement programs have their own procedures. Settlement is basically opted by those who have a large amount of debt and cannot afford to make the consolidation payments. The monthly payments are set lower in this program compared to consolidation program. Every individual situation varies from one another. You will understand your requirements and plan your options before getting started with any program. Settlement has one drawback. If the creditor reports your account negatively with the bureaus, it might affect your file for seven years. But if your settlement company has already dealt with the credit company in the past, they can negotiate for a fair reporting.
A separate account is opened in the settlement program where your monthly payments are posted. Your bills don't remain current until the creditor has accepted your proposal. Once the deal is finalized, money is sent to them and the accounts are updated with the bureaus. There are some risks attached in this program but the benefits are also worth if the program is successful. Read this page on debt settlement and the procedure for a better explanation.
debt consolidation Care does not offer any consolidation program
debt consolidation Care does not offer any consolidation program to the consumers. And they don't charge anything for the services offered to the people.
I have so far understood that this site has tie ups with some consolidation companies in different locations and they get a referral fee for it. The counselor in your area may charge some fees for their program. It is told before you get enrolled in their plan and the fees can be tucked into the monthly payments if your situation demands. See this page.

I'm from the same state as you are jlong, and also got referred to Superior Debt. Probably because of the amount that I owe. Check your PM.....
I get more and more confused by all this stuff...
I appreciate everyone's thoughts... I have done almost nothing today but "surf" the net looking at different stuff trying to figure this all out. I ran across this article when I was looking for information on T&C. Take note of the last paragraph...it seems to run contrary to everything being said here...doesn't it?

Chill jlong4 :) The wrong thing has been corrected. Actually, it's done because other sites might claim stealing their content and putting it here. Govt. websites don't create such problems if you put their link at the bottom.
