HI ev1!
I have searched the topics here and can't find a situation like mine. I have 2 credit cards in my name one is from Chase the other AT&T. I've had 5 back ops and can no longer work. My hubby and I are living on $1,068.00 Soc. Sec. a month. We were able to make our monthly credit card payments until that new law was passed in January forcing ev1 to pay more to thier principle. My payments on the Chase casrd doubled and we could no longer afford to make the monthly payments. I saw an attorney about bancruptcy but we have too much equity in our home and it can be sold out from under us. went to our credit union and other banks but when they see we live off of $1,068.00 a month we are turned down for any tpye of loan etc.. I tried dealing with Chase amount we owe is $13,000.00 well it just went up after talking with them. I explained our situation and was trying to negotiate a deal where we could afford to make payments. They were very rude and were not willing to make any type of deal. I looked into debr reduction programs but i don't see how we can do that with our monthly income the way it is. Now I am getting phone calls from Chase at all hours of the day and night. Is there any program out there that could help us? I am really at the point where i could just kill myself just so i don't have to deal with this stress. My hubby is 68 yrs old and if i did that he'd end up having the house sold out from under him due to chase suing. Any help would be appreciated please!
Thank You!

Hi Bridalflowers2, I am so sorry to hear about your situation. I understand and you need to take this situation calmly. Don't go through so much of stress. Things might turn worse because of one wrong move.

Chase is a very tough company. I myself have had no luck when working with them. But I used a debt management program to pay off the account. And the good thing is that they accepted my proposal from the company. They usually sound stiff in front of us but are willing to work with the consolidation companies. You have registered here for the debt counseling. Perhaps, he will give you some hope. Everything will be just fine.

Thank you for getting to me so quickly! It's good to know that someone else had no luck in dealing with chase on their own. My problem is i don't see how we can even qualify for a debt reduction program or even a debt settlement program just because our monthly income is so low. I would like to know what is the Debtcc points that i see under ev1 names please?

That's the specialty of these debt management programs. According to the individual monthly income of a household, the consolidation plan is framed so that the person is able to pay off the accounts without defaulting towards the accounts further. After you discuss about your options with a debt counselor (who will be calling you after filling up the sign up form here) you will get some hopes of reducing your existing debts and improve your credit. So far, you have been doing right. Now, a consultant will explain everything about the program and you will get started soon towards achieving a debt free life. :)

DebtCC points is a part of the rewards program offered to the community members here. Some points keep accumulating towards your forum account at every post. One point earned is equal to one cent. The total number of points is shown in your user account, at present I see 78 debtcc points. You can redeem them into cash from the website after you have reached a total of $10 or 1000 debtcc points. See more specific information at http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/forums/about553.html

It is so scary to hear about these horrible situations with chase. My consolidation company recommended that I change all of my information to theirs for easier relief. I wish I could come up with the money to pay off the cards on my own, but with a car payment in the way now, it just isn't possible. I'm truly worried about my health down the road in the 2yrs it will take to become debt free. I don't know if I could touch another creditcard after this.

Hi mpeters13!
I know you might be feeling bad like i am right now - but others have told me we are on the right path. Of course we wish we could pay these off without having any problems- the truth is we do and now we are doing something about it! I don't understand what you're consolidation comany recommended though. How do you change all of your information to theirs? As for you not wanting to touch another credit card i feel the same way, but at the time i had to use it to get all of my husbands medicines. As it is we now know that if we can't afford the medicines we just won't get them. anyway, i would really like to understand how to give your information to the consolidation company i would appreciate it! I hope things get better for you.
