To begin with I got a cell phone for my husband and he would rack up a $300 bill every time and it was already difficult to pay with our income. I had just got a new job working for myself as a hairstylist and was not making much because I had to build a clientel and at the same time my husband decided to go on unemployment. unemployment did not pay enough for us to afford to pay our bills so we had to let go of our cell phones and also my credit cards that I still owed on and try to get by. I am currently going through a divorce with my husband and I am getting by a lot better now but my credit is destroyed and it is very difficult to get a place to live, no one will rent to someone with poor credit. I need to settle some of my debt so I can start over.

Welcome Queenfasion :D It sounds like without your husband running up bills, you may end up better financially! Have you contacted your creditors? If not,I would do so and explain your situation. Sometimes if you explain the situation, they will work with you. If they get the feeling you are not doing anything,or running from your debt, they can get ugly.Someone will contact you soon about your credit counseling. Explain everything to them and they can then see what will best suit you. Keep us posted!...Karen

I will not say that divorce is the best decision to be taken. Stay separated for a while and understand if things can improve a bit. But, I respect your decision, qweenfasion. If that's the only way to solve your existing problems and there are no hopes of any improvement later, go for it. You will feel better.

Start improving your credit slowly, maybe by enrolling the accounts in the consolidation plan. The payments can be set lower as per your individual situation. The interest rates will also be kept lower in the program so that the major portion of your money goes towards the principal amount. Here are some tips on finding the perfect debt solution for you.
