We are in really bad debt right now. We have gotten close to paid off in the past but thing always seem to come up that we don't have the money for and have to use credit and they are not unnessecary things either.
We have two children and there are some times when it feels like we can't go and get groceries because we have no money.
I would love to be able to be debt free and have the money to spend on ourselves every once in a while.

schamberlin,

You have came to the right place. You will find here that you are not alone, and are among friends. Since you have registered, a counselor will be contacting you to discuss your situation. With debt consolidation, you can combine all unsecured debt into one monthly payment.

If things are consolidated how does that work? Do you have to cut up all of your credit cards? Are you able to do most of them and hold a couple back. We have one that we use for repairs on cars and we don't want to lose that card.

With consolidation, the benefits are some of the credit card companies will lower or even eliminate the interest, drop the late fees and over the limit fees. Most of the time, when the companies accept the consolidation companies proposal, they will automatically close the accounts. You can put whichever cards you choose into the program.

Welcome schamberlin. I am currently working with a debt consolidation company to get my finances in order. I only kept out one credit card for emergencies. I would suggest you do the same if you absolutely feel like you need a credit card. debt consolidation programs are a great idea for you to help you get back on track. You will find alot of helpful information on the forums. The goal is to become debt free and reduce your stress.
