Hi all. I have been online for the past week looking for options to my financial crisis. I am wavering between filing for bankruptcy and trying credit counseling. I am way far in debt, I have lost all control of my financial situation and I really don't know what to do or who to turn to for help. My debt is in credit cards and medical bills.

Could anyone here please give me some advice on what I can do?

Tracy
I was like you a few weeks ago. I somehow found this site, & it saved me. I went with a debt settlement co. I saw on this site. It had good feed back. I feel very relieved. Plus, the people on this web site are the greatest. They will give you encouragement & they will jut listen if thats all you want.

Just know we have all been there, and I understand, believe me, how embarassing it is to admit your mistakes and to share how much debt you have. You are not alone and you will be ok. Keep coming back and share your progress, ask questions, or share any advice you have from your personal experiences.

Thanks for making me feel welcome and letting me know I am not alone. I am so torn..I really don't want to file Chapter 7. It's hard sometimes to figure out what the lesser of two evils would be. So, am I understanding correctly that someone will contact me and outsource to another company that meets my needs the best? Also, what are the fees associated with doing this?

I'm just so confused!

Tracy, No one here will judge you and we are/have been where you are now. This is the most comforting place I've found where others actually understand the anxiety that goes along with taking the first step to get out of debt. And the angst that goes along with creditors calling and not being able to take care of all your bills. You have taken the first step, talk to the credit counselor when they call and make an informed decision that mets your needs the best. Andif you have questions don't bother hesitating to ask them in the forums, there is always someone around that is more than willing to help or lend a kind word of advice or just good old fashioned moral support.

Tracy, I agree completely with paulisgirl. This has been the most helpful uplifting site ever. You made a wise decision to contact a credit counselor. We are all here to help each other so feel free to ask questions, even you think its a stupid question, and I or anyone else here will be glad to try to help. I would also suggest letting bankruptcy be your very last resort. I filed bankruptcy in 1998 and yes I did get credit card offers and loan offers after that but the interest rates/monthly payments were outrageous. A bankruptcy screws up your credit. I tried to get my bankruptcy taken off after 7 years but they won't do it and told me it will be on my credit for 10 years.

Hi All
I need good words. I feel so abandoned & depressed right now. As some of you know from my previous entries, my hubby is working in Germany right now. I have no way of contacting him. He usually goes to an internet cafe & calls me. I haven't heard from him for a couple of weeks. Since he put our acct in negattive suspense, I know he doesn't have to money to call. They pay once a month there. I have enough money to get me back & forth to my little job for about 4 days. When my daughter called this morning to go horseback riding, I told her I couldn't because I had to save my gas. She said she would give me money, but I already owe her. She also helps her father & my sister. I feel like a rotten mother among other things. I am in such a deep depression I don't know how to climb out. I already take something for depression. I never though at this age I would be so hopeless. The company I made a deal with to stp[ repo on my hubbys car wasn't suppose to withdraw until 10/17 well they tried on 10/11 so now I have anothe bounced check fee. The guy I talked to wasn't in. My little dog doesn't want to leave my lap. I know he feels my pain

Try contacting your bank about the situation and that this was an unauthorized debit and you may be able to get your money back from the company. Do you have family or friends you can talk to, your post is really concerning. You should really contact your doctor due to the symptoms you are experiencing. We have all been in the situation of hopelessness when it comes to our finances and I don't know if telling you it will get better helps, but it will get better as long as you take the steps to get there. But I strongly encourage you to contact your doctor providing you treatment for your depression. In the mean time try not to isolate yourself, contact family or friends you feel comfortable talking with.

Mary Ann. Definitely, don't isolate yourself, it only makes it worse. I know from experience. I know you feel like that there is no way out of your current situation but there is always help. You just have to reach out for it and try to think positive. I know its easy for people to say that and not really know how it feels to be depressed and overwhelmed but I've been in your shoes. I know it seems hard but it's up to you to take a step foward, find strength in yourself, be strong, and if necessary accept help from other people.

MaryAnn, It sounds like you need to see your doctor regarding your depression, perhaps there is a different medication that would be more beneficial for you during this increased time of depression. I believe it is safe to say that all of us here have felt like, we could not imagine being this age(37 for me) and being in such a mess. It is unnerving to just get up in the morning when you feel that there is no hope, but it is important to get up, and shower, do your makeup and hair and just that sometimes improves your spirits rather than sitting around in our sweats...which I to doing also. Keep coming here for the support the members give. We have all been through or are going through similar situations. This site has made me improve my outlook towards my situation, it is not as hopeless as it seems. kirasienna has a very good point...please don't isolate yourself keeping everything in only makes you feel even worse and could only make your situation seem more hopeless. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, keep your chin up and keep going you can do it.

Hi Everyone

I finally heard from my hubby. He didn't have money to call. Everything is ok. I had my best friend stay with me for a few days to help calm me down & make sure i was ok. Hubby said to let them repo the car. I have already given the repo comapny a check # & they were to take the money out of our acct last week. Since the acct was overdrawn i got a notice from the bank that the check was returned. Money should be in our acct tonight. If I call the bank tomorrow will a stop payment work on a returned check or does it automatically get paid when money is in the acct?
Thanks again all you wonderful people. I couldn't go thru this without you guys. Hope things will finally turn around

dduvall, is suntrust your bank? if so I can tell you I went into the bank and explained my situation(I was $858.00 in the red) and made a payment that day with payment arrangements, they were ok with it, and after I was paid up they let me open a new account with them. You should definately try to work with them
