Due to a loss of employment last October, 2005, I had a vehicle repossessed. They sold the truck at auction and have tried to collect the balance from me since. I don't have the finances to repay this debt at this time. The collection agency's have taken to calling my neighbors to try and embarass me into paying. Is there anything I can do to stop them from calling the people on my street?

Your neighbors can draft a cease and desist letter to the collection agency's address. This letter will legally stop the CA from calling your neighbors. If they continue to receive the calls from the CA, they can sue the company in the court.

But the debt still remains valid and you'll have to arrange means of paying it off.

They will continue to call your neighbors and your neighbors neighbors to find you until they have a good number for you and you actualy answer the phone.

After they go through your neighbors they will start with your relatives, if they havent' already.

They can not disclose your personal information in reguards to your account but they can say that they are a collections agency.
