I know this is just a vent BUT.. I had to come to this site to remind me NOT to get in another I had the web site up for my cash now..
Last night i got home to find a letter from the IRS that i owe 333.00 MORE ( not sure what this will do to my arrangments) calling them Friday.. and I also have to face the PDL Friday and tell them no more.. and file all the complaints.
Then my 19 year old calls he ran out of gas on his way to a midterm..He is trying to get in to a 4 year college in the East ( his dad has offered to pay all of it) but he needs to have a good semster to get in well that is blown ( no make ups on midterms)and he had the money for GAS... teenagers....
I lost it.. it was the last thing i could handle..I cried for 3 hours and really thought it wasnt worth the fight anymore
Now I am trying to right a letter to the PDL place and I am just blank,, (I have 4 with one storefront in CA you are only allowed 1) they have 6 of my checks 2 i have paid off but they wont return until everything is paid... this morning i came to work and opened the web site for My Cash Now and even applied then as soon as i hit the submit button i called and told them to cancel.. i am not sure how things will get paid but that is not the way...
Just needed to vent...

jn, I have three teenagers, so I know what you're going through. If he had the money for gas and he didn't get gas, then he blew it for himself. One thing I've learned (I also have two adult children - 30 and 29) is that sometimes you do whatever you can to help your kids, but you can only do so much. Eventually, it comes to the point where they have to take some responsibility, too. And actually, once I gave up in exasperation, they proved to me that they actually COULD take responsibility and do pretty well. I would let him know that this was his chance and he blew it, and it's up to him to try to rectify it including talking to his father and the school and see what can be done. Another case of "tough love."

As far as the PDLs, have you talked to a debt counselor on this site about possibly consolidating the loans? Definitely DO NOT take out another loan - that just continues the vicious cycle.

Good luck on both - and know that others know what you're going through - on both counts.

Hi...

I'm sorry, take a deep breath, and relax...

The IRS, believe it or not, is usually pretty easy to work with. $330 in the scheme of things is not much to them. I imagine they will work it in to your current arrangements, if not, expect to have it taken out of your return.

Things will get better, I promise you. Hang in there, and we're there for you.

Well you came to the right place! I have had debt with the IRS and was on a payment plan. After filing the next years return, I owed still more to the IRS. I called them and they did in fact redo my arrangements to include the new $$$. As finsfan mentioned, they are pretty easy to work with. It's going to be OK. And as finsfan also mentioned, the
people are here for you whenever you need them. Best wishes to you. Keep your chin up!

Hang in ther jn! I,too, paid the IRS forever! But they were the easiest to work with and pay-they didn't call 20 times a day or harass me. I finanally got one to them paid off, then had another one come up-so I just made arrangements with taht too. It's kinda like DR. bills, about the time you get one paid off, there is always another on, at least when my kids were small...Karen :D

pdl.never.again.

You have come far in the matter of a few months. You deserve a pat on the back. What happens with your son and college is meant to happen. I'm sure he will get in and everything will be fine. It's always nice to have a positive balance, especially after paying of the final storefront lenders :-) Relax and enjoy yourself a little bit :-) You've earned it.
