If the company is doing the business without a license, they have no right to garnish your wages because they are violating the laws in your state.
Calculate how much have you paid on this loan account. If there is an outstanding balance, call them for a payment arrangement. Don't use your checking account for the payments. Money order is good.
If you have paid the full amount, get the account closed by the pdl. They need to send you a 'Paid in Full' letter.

I don't think they can take you to court over this. It was a honest mistake on your end and you are willing to pay them off. Be careful in dealing with them though because they can be tricky.
