Sharon Williams, Account Manager/Reconciliation Consultant, Westbury Ventures sent me an ugly email yesterday. I have asked for a statement of my account and needless to say haven't heard from her. I quickly informed her that payday loans are illegal in the State of NC.

are you still banking with the same bank? If you are that is probably why they keep hitting your bank accounts. You need to close that account and go to a totally different bank. Do not take out any IPDL's or PDL's with your new checking account, I guess that is one way that can get ahold of that information which is what I found out by reading. I am getting the same threatening emails. I closed my account and opened another one somewhere else.

I really pissed her off today, she sent me my 9 notices all in one day... I received no less than 30 emails from her today. No matter how much I tell her that she has the wrong person, she continues. She has even threatened me with her "attorneys" I just spammed her a million times back, and I haven't heard another peep from her....

Sharon Williams....

She is a lot of fun... Just email her back as much as she emails you. She even called me today, all day long, I just kept putting her on hold. She can't get to me, I am actually having a lot of fun with her. She is going to get attorneys after me, and I'm going to regret what I have started. I look forward to screwing with her everyday. I even sent her an e-greeting wishing her a Happy 4th.... You have to remember, this is a woman that harasses people for a living. Which means that she has no formal education, she is probably a single, lonely, crazy cat lady.... And if you play your cards right, and don't let them get the best of you, you can really piss them off as much as they try to piss you off.... Every stupid spam email you get, take the time to forward it to you collection person. Don't forget to sign them up for spam. Use there email when you don't want to use yours. Trust me, just have fun with it especially if it's illegal in your state!

Here is my latest email from Ms. Sharon Williams

I????????m about to make sure you remember me. Sorry things didn????????t work out between us but I MUST move forward now. I left you a message on your voicemail so don????????t worry about returning the call being that you think you can make this matter disappear by NOT responding to it. It is unfortunate that you would play around with a matter like this one. You will definitely need to save as much money as you can to get out of this one. Thanks for your time.

Sharon also sent me this.

Unfortunately, I can????????t hold your case any longer. Have you obtained an attorney? If you have not, I can give you an easy way out of this mess. Right now your contract balance is $1,290. I will settle this and exclude all other fees for $400. Let me know if you want to handle this on your own terms. Thanks

Before Ms. Sharon Williams, I was dealing with Mr. Eric Saylor, here is his last email to me (I miss him!)

Ms Your Name Here,

First of all this is a mass email that is sent out, so it was not directed to you personally. Second you did not reply with any info about doing the settlement by the 18th so we cannot just assume that you are taking advantage. In regards to your degrading statements, you might want to go to some sort of finance school and rethink your career path because YOU are the one that owes a PAYDAY loan. Its funny you say you don????????t owe the bill but everything down to address, ssn, name, bank info, all verify as you. Maybe you ought to be a prison activist because no one there is guilty either. Good luck to you and your credit standing. Thank You.

Isn't he sweet. He is going to make some lucky woman happy!

Sharon Williams is adorable. This is her latest response.

Your responses are VERY childish. You should spend your time doing something that will allow you to take care of your responsibilities better. I????????m doing my job and I assume that you????????re making fun of that. Well, I have a little secret for you because obviously you????????re NOT taking this issue seriously. I wonder what will get your attention. I dare you to have your attorney reach my office. Either way it doesn????????t make me any difference because you????????re going to pay regardless. It could be on your own or with a little assistance.

Yes, I kept asking for anything to show it was me, a SSN, or some other proof, she just wrote nasty emails. But when I forwarded everything to Brad, suddenly the emails stopped.... I haven't heard from her since the 10th of July. I was having so much fun with her....

I'll miss her :(

This company is sending me between 3 and 10 emails daily. I was unexpectedly hospitalized and missed the payment date. They will not give me the amount owed and will only accept a money order tha I cannot get because I am housebound due to my Multiple Sclerosis. I have contacted the AG and BBB. I will never deal with one of these companies again. Lesson learned. Although, I must admit I did deal with another payday loan company last year and they were wonderful. So they are not all bad.

brawny, this company is good at making illegal threats. They called my work and said a bunch of garbage like that too. Don't worry, you are not going to jail. They are just trying to scare you. I repeat, YOU ARE NOT GOING TO JAIL. Please do not even worry about that. You have not done anything criminal. How much did you borrow from this company? How much did you pay back so far? DO NOT LET THESE JERKS SCARE YOU!!!

Hey Sharon how can you sleep with yourself at night knowing what you do and the hell you put people thru?? You people take advantage of a bad situation and make it worse!! I know people take these loans out, but they do it not knowing about the laws that you guys are not following and the threats which are illegal!! If we could have paid our debts you wouldn't have a job! I guess you could find something else to do that paid min. wage and didn't require no morals or feelings!!

Sharon, I, along with others, got into a bad situation and now am trying to recityf it. You will be getting your money, just at lower payments. By the way, are you and Larry Foster the same person? I need to know for when I contact the Delaware Better Business Bureau.

This company took money out of my account without my authorization. I believe these companies share banking information. I've had to close my account and file their withdrawal as fraudulent. I was directed by Bud Hibbs to do this. My bank is going to give me my money back. There has to be something that we can do to stop their fraudulent as well as harrassing tactics. Can a class action lawsuit be filed? Does anyone know if this is possible??

If so, how can we go about doing this? Any suggestions would be helpful. I've done searches on the internet and we are not the only victims.

What's really messed up is... When I spoke with my bank and filed my complaint, the young lady that took my information stated, "Wow, what's going on with this company? I just had another call from another lady about this same company fraudulently taking money out of her account".

This is crazy and they must be stopped.

I'm not sure about a class action- wish all of them were in one!! You can talk to a consumer attorney and see what they say.

Have you filed complaints with your AG and others' yet? I have also sent letters with documentation to my senators and congressmen..Good Luck..Let us know what happens..KAren :D

Westbury has been calling my husband at work and threatening garnishment of his wages. I confirmed with HR and North Carolina laws and it states the only thing that can be garnished is Taxes, child support and student loans. All other debt has to file a judgement and even then they can only take a small portion, that it's not even worth attempting garnishment. What is it about being able to find another bank account and taking funds from it? He no longer banks at the bank that was set up for the payday loan and I am the account holder of our current bank. I have set up our email address to automatically delete any correspondance from these people, but the calls to work have got to stop. Any suggestions?

It is against the law for them to call him at work. at Least I know it is in Texas. That is called harrassment. I would look into that..

I got a very disturbing voicemail yesterday at work from a man who called himself "Victor" saying I either had 24 hours to respond to him or that I would be prosecuted for fraud. He left the usual number I see here on this message board, 800-859-6439. Alarmed, I called the # to see what it would say when anyone picked up the phone; the recording said "You have reached Westbury Ventures...", after which I hanged up and Googled this name which I had never, ever heard before. Imagine my dismay to see that they are a well-known scourge upon hard-working people. I also noticed that they seem to only be affiliated with Cash advance (etc.) type companies. I took out a couple PDL's in 2003, and find it incredulous that they would go back that far to farm and steal info about PDLs that were definitely paid back in more than full (one I paid $1300 on a $350 loan before they stopped withdrawing $$ from my checking acct.). So.........I declared bankruptcy in 2004, have never since gone anywhere near any of those disreputable companies, so I know whatever it is they are trying to get from me is in and of itself fraud. i was proactive today...I went to my credit union and they are putting into place tomorrow a block on ANY company trying to withdraw funds from me that has anything to do with cash advances. I hope that will be enough, but criminals are clever and I feel like I really need to keeep a close, close watch on all my bank and credit card accts. for awhile. I appreciate reading the stories here, in case the phone calls rise to the harassment level that some of you have suffered with.

Alan

Danny George, a collector for Westbury Ventures was fired after I spoke with a manager there. He had threatened me numerous times and refused to make payment arrangements. I spoke with his manager this morning and she informed me he was no longer with the company. Her and I worked out an arrangement that suited us both. Woo hoo.

Tamale, last post is correct, DO NOT give them anything that allows them to withdraw money from an account. NOTHING. You don't even have to talk to them. Did you call the AG's office in your state? Do it. See my post of Oct. 24, I thought I was all set. Well this morning I checked my checking acct. balance to find Westbury withdrew $390 last night. I stormed up to my credit union (who had yesterday said I had nothing to worry about when I told them of the threat via voicemail to get into my acct.) and only becasue I had noticed this so quickly were they able to put a stop payment on it, had me sign an affidavit, and return me my money. Had I not checked this a.m. I would have lost that money. This to me is incredible, I have never had any loans with this "company" of crooks. I want them all to fry in the electric chair!

I had $390 taken out of my account yesterday from these people. I put a fraud alert on my account, had the money reversed and closed the account. I also sent a nasty but polite email to Carl Weathers, who is the Collections Manager there. This morning, I got a very polite email from him, saying that he was willing to forgive the loan and he attached a release. The funny thing is that the release only protects THEM and does not forgive any alleged loan. It also states that they are operating in Delaware and the release falls under the state laws of Missouri. Since I live in California and they cannot legally do business in this state, I am curious as to whether Missouri law would protect them even further. Anyway, I sent "Mr. Weathers" an email to let him know that the release does not forgive any alleged loan and only protects them, so until the wording is changed, I will not sign. I gave them 5 days to change it or I will take it to my attorney. I've already forwarded all of this to my State's Attorney General and the BBB in Delaware.

The person's name is Brad Weathers. And I looked up Missouri law and it allows a company to collect in excess of 75% of the loan amount and also allows for criminal prosecution if someone either puts a stop payment on an account or closes it. They are pretty darn sneaky!

I had to close my bank account because i had so many nsf charges. I am still with the same bank. I have 2 payday loans but i am not sure whether i have paid on the one i got a call about today. She said i was to call her back by 11/15 or their would be serious consequences. She said i could have my attorney call. What can they actually do to my besides put it on my credit report and harass me? I would like to pay on it but i have had some major money problems in the past few weeks and i con't have anything to pay them.[/justify]

Last week I was looking to apply for an online loan but never found a descent one to agree to or a company to borrow from. A few days later, I checked my bank account and found Westbury Ventures withdrew $390 from my account without consent from me.I have never heard of these people. They basically stole the money from me. I have filed an Affidavit with my bank and started an formal investigation. I have a phone number for Westbury Ventures 800-859-6439 if anyone needs it. It would be helpful if anyone can give me addtional information about these frauders so I can forward the information to my bank. Feel free to inquire with any questions. Thank you

I have emailed and emailed Westbury because I have overpaid my loan by about $500, my bank account is closed and I have not heard anything from them yet, I defaulted on 11/9 and send emails all the time, I just found Brad's email from reading this topic, so I sent him an email, so we will see what happens. Has anyone gotten a PIF from them or even possible a refund?

Quote:

am contacting you because you have one or more payday loans that have been referred to our collection department as a result of return payments by your bank.

We have made numerous attempts to get in touch with you regarding repayment of your account. Since you have demonstrated an unwillingness to voluntarily settle the debt, you have been referred to Check Recovery. This automated system is actively looking to locate any valid bank account associated with your name and social security number. If such an account is found, Check Recovery will move to recover the entire balance due at once.

If you would like to have control over how and when your obligation is repaid, you need to contact me to put a firm payment plan in place. If I do not hear from you by close of business November 30, 2007, I will assume you would rather have my company take back what you owe, rather than paying it back on your own terms. You may contact me by phone or email.

Does anyone have an address for Westbury I think they also call themselves Xpresscash. I have NEVER taking any payday out with them, or any of the list of names the rep gave me when she tried to say I did. For that matter I thought they were some school soliciting for online classes. She stated I borrowed 100 bucks and they are asking for 220 back. Are you kidding me? She had me so convinced I borrowed this money, that I told her that I will get back to her on if I would pay by money order or debit. Next thing you know over the Thnxgiving holiday they automatically TRIED to take 220 out of my account. Luckly I put a stop to that, and the next time they call me being hateful and ugly, I'm going to tell them how it is and Demand they send me papers to my so called "agreement"
