CdavisD: Welcome to the forum. First off, garnishments can only come as a result of a court order. Voluntary wage assignments are just what they say - voluntary. You can send a letter to your employer and to the PDL revoking your authorization for voluntary wage assignments. Most employers don't even honor those. If you do a google search on Pollyandsay's blog, you will find a template letter for PDLs. Use that, inserting your state laws where appropriate and any other pertinent information. I believe the template letter states that you are revoking any wage assignments. If not, insert that, as well. Send it via certified letter with a receipt requested. Also, if they are illegal, you need to report them to your attorney general's office. A lot of states are cracking down on these companies, so it's very important for you to report them. Good luck, and let us know how you're doing.
