I really need some guidance. I have about $25,000 in credit card debt. I had several unforseen circumstances that brought my debt to that point. I decided to go live with my daughter and her husband. The converted a portion of their house for me nd I secured the building supplies and materials on my credit cards (about $8k).I am living with my family, which is great because my rent in my old place was higher then what my family is asking, but now my credit card debt is so high and that makes my credit card payments even higher like some of the almost $300 a month each, so now I cannot even afford to pay my daughter the money I owe them for rent.

I am very scared of these debt consolidation places. I am afraid to be scammed. This debt runs my life.I eat sleep and breathe paying it. I need to find some solution. Any suggestions?

Why don't you try calling your creditors and arrange a payment plan? You may be able to convince them for a lower payoff at lower interest rate. If this is done, you won't have to hire any outside help.

But in case, if the problem continues, you will have to get immediate help before they mark your account charged off and send it to collections. You also won't like to invite any legal troubles because of this.

Regarding the rent, talk to your daughter and explain that you will be surely paying off the rent, after you have been able to fix your credit card problems. Children understand parent's problems when they are in need. She is good, that's why you have a shelter in her house.
