I have always been curious about this since I joined the boards.

Has anyone paid outright to the Payday Loan companies (ie Paid In Full without going through default)? If so, did all debits quit? Or was the companies still trying to pull money out?

I am just fearful that when I get all the principles paid off at the end of the month, they will still continue to debit out of my account. I guess I could open a new account, but I really don't want to go through the hassle. Should I just set a block on the payday companies I have now? I like my bank as they have been extremely patient with me. But I want to be rid of all this I have done unto myself.

I believe each of the loan companies behave differently. Most of them are jerks while few are actually good. Being proactive is the best thing. Blocking a company from doing a debit is good for only six months. You will incur charges for it. Closing the account will be the best option if you are afraid of these pdl places.

If you don't want to close your account or pay the stop payment charges, you can prepare a letter to all or your PDL's that you are revoking their authorization to make anymore debits from your account. If you do this, make sure you take a copy to your bank.
I was not in a position to close my account and I just had my Bank put a hard hold my account blocking all debits and I sent those letters out. I continue to use that account till this day and I have had no problems with any of them trying to hit the account.

FilbrunOh, I paid all of my companies in full. Some did not touch my account. Others continued to try and bleed it dry. My bank closed my account and wouldnt let anything go thru. Rio Resources and my cash now are the worst to keep trying to get money. Hope this helps. KYSIDE38

In the past, I had up to 4 payday loans at one time. I paid all of them in full, with the exception of Rt. 66, who would not accept my payment by mail - only by ACH, which I refused on the basis that they would continue to debit my account.

I still owe them $23 - I have offered to pay them that over and over, and we keep arguing over how I will pay it - so it has yet to be paid. They haven't contacted me in over a month, so I think they're done with me. But I did have to close a bank account to get them to stop debiting. And they had the gall to tell me I owed them for the ACH fees they incurred by continuing to attempt debits on a closed account. I'm still trying to figure out what part of "account closed" they didn't understand.

They are under a new name now. Also did you know that the chief officer is also the big wig for Drive Financial? Quick Payday is turning around and suing the states that are suing them. it will be a long drawn out battle. KYSIDE38

I have paid out one payday loan in full. It took time but I paid them off finally by paying them fifty dollars each week. This pdl has still be contacting me wanting me to get another loan with them. But I have told them no as I am trying to get rid of these loans once and for all.

I paid also quikpayday in full because they were shady as well. They didn't want me to pay what I could afford but wanted me to pay them hundreds of dollars to only borrow from them again. That's how the sucker you in.

I paid Apollo, Cash Transfer (Northway), Cash Central, CashNetUSA and Check City (storefront PDL) in full. Learned after joining this community that Apollo and Cash Transfer aren't licensed in my state. I still owe Loan By Phone (they're licensed) and Emerald Marketing and CashNet500 (both not licensed). LBP is getting paid in full, Emerald and CashNet500 will get the principal - less the amount paid in extensions/rollovers, plus state allowed interest which is 18%apr or 1.5% on unsecured loans in my state.

See ... I've learned a lot since coming here.

Oh yea, and I'm filing complaint letters with the Department of Consumer Protection on the companies that aren't licensed in my state.
