Hoping that I can get some insight and help.. please tell me there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Yes, you will be able to put your accounts that are in the collections in one of the debt management plan. The counselor will call the collectors and make payment arrangements with them. All arrangements will be done after confirming that they are the ones authorized for collecting on your account.

I am going to sign up tonight. Is debt management the same as a settlement program?

debt management is different than debt settlement. In Debt Management or Consolidation, your counselor negotiates a lower interest rate, or the elimination of interest on your debts, and consolidates them for you so you pay only one monthly payment, which the counseling agency then disperses to the creditors on your behalf.
In Debt Settlement, the debt counseling agency will negotiate with the creditors for a reduced balance, which will have to be paid either in full right away, or some agencies are able to work out payment plans on your behalf. It's slightly different than Debt Management.

Thank you so much for the insight. Sounds like debt management is the better way. So will debt management usually work with accounts already in collection? Does debt management usually work for most people? I am looking to pay off within 1-2 yrs if possible. I would assume the CA's or Creditors will take any payments they can get.
On another note can a CA add interest to accounts? How long do creditors usually take to sell the debt to a CA?
Anyone else in a DM plan and having success?
My debt problem is making me sick and I just want to nip it in the bud ASAP.
