I am being harrased by CRSI, they are threatening legal action unless I send them 8500.00 immediately. They said they are going to take my car and my belongings, garnish my wages and leave me penniless. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Community :D CRSI is Certified Recovery Systems, I believe. Do you have pay day loans? If so, are they internet or store front? Check out you states AG website to see if they are licensed to do business, chances are, if they are internet, they're not. They can, and will, threaten anything. Send them a request for debt validation, certified, return receipt. They can't put you in jail. Since you are registered, someone will contact you for your free consultation, and you can discuss your options with them. If you have any questions, please ask..Karen

Since you have registered, someone from your area will be in contact with you to discuss your situation and work on options.

From saying CRSI, I am guessing you mean Certified Recovery Systems. There is much talk about them on this forum. Sounds like what they said is a standard threat they make. My first question: do you know what the $8500 you owe is for? Have they told you who the creditor is they are collecting? Here's just one thread talking about them:

File complaints with the attorney general's office and the BBB. CRSI is very famous for the illegal collection tactics. Don't let their threats get over you. They can't touch your hair. Have you received anything in writing from CRSI? They must validate your debt to confirm about their legitimate collections. Also, contact the original creditor and make direct payment arrangements with them
