First of all I am in the Navy. My problems all started when I was eligible for housing pay to live out in town. I got several credit cards to pay for furniture. later I consolidated my debt. Around this time I had a fiance. I started putting her in charge of the bills. I made my bank account negative so many times I could no longer use a lot of services, including the ATM, so I switched banks.
I slowly stopped taking responsibility for my bills and my fiance kept being stupid with our money so I kept getting further in debt and my credit at this time was so bad, I couldn't qualify for loans anywhere. I got more in debt with payday lenders.
The Navy helped me get back on my feet for awhile with the Navy/Marine Corps relief society and I was doing well for awhile. I had a small amount of debt accumulate again, but I had enough bonuses come in so that I was able to cover it all. I am still living paycheck to paycheck and I now possess the knowledge to be financially smart. But it seems like its going to take me forever to get my credit back up and qualify for a loan.

I'm an OS2 and currently I am a Navy recruiter that has been in the Navy for 7 years. I did two back to back sea duties. Here is my story.

Hi roidwrestler

Have you gone through your latest credit copy to check if all accounts are updated with their last payments? How much debt do you see presently?

You need to do some good budgeting with your finance so that you save money from your income and put it towards your debts. Is there any possibility of other source of income or help from your family or friends? The debt is adding up with interests. You'll have to do something now to take care of your credit.

Take Alexandra's advice. Don't take a new loan for paying the present debts. The interest rate will be very high if your scores aren't decent. The new loan will be a burden and you won't have any way to do savings for the future.
