Has anyone heard of Web Payday. I got a collection letter from National Credit Adjusters and not sure what payday loan is associated with Web Payday

Welcome!

If you took out a payday loan, was it being paid back through your bank account? If so, you should be able to go back through your bank statements and find the name of the company you took the loan out with.

Also, if you request verification of the debt from the collection agency, they should provide you the name of the original creditor.

We closed that bank account in Jan 06 and have no info on who the payday loans we're thru. I called National Credit Adjusters tonight to see who Web Payday is and they couldn't say who they were, just that they put 390 in my old account. Now National Credit Adjusters is trying to collect 645. He said that they hit my account 5 times for 90 and then 390 and that is when the bank account was closed.I told the National Credit Adjusters that I paid that back and more and that they wouldn't receive a dime from me. They say that this can go on my credit report. Is this true? I thought they only reported to teletrack? How do I go about fighting this with no info from the old account. I can't go to the old account because we closed it when the ipdl's kept taking more and more money. By the way the loans we're taken out in Arizona but then we moved to Texas where we closed the bank account. Now what do I do?

Here is another thread I found on this site regarding National Credit Adjusters - apparently they're not easy to deal with:

http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/forums/nationalcreditadjusters.html

That thread contains an address and contact info for National Credit Adjusters - I would recommend sending a cease and desist letter, and filing a complaint with your state's Attorney General or the Department of Financial Institutions - whoever regulates payday lenders in that state. (Obviously, this would be in Arizona, where you lived and took the loan out.) Here's the payday lending law in Arizona, and where to file your complaint:

http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/paydayloan/explain-pdls-laws.html

I would file a complaint not only on the original payday lender (if you can find any info on them), but also on the collection agency that is attempting to collect the debt. I may be wrong about this, but I would not be surprised if the "collection agency" is actually the payday lender in disguise.

I would definitely fight this one - watch your credit report to be sure they aren't reporting it, and if it does show up, dispute it immediately. I suspect they will not report it, however - I think that might be one of their scare tactics.

I have another dilemma as well. I paid a company here in Dallas/Ftworth to help me restore my credit. Anyways, my question is should I send these guys a DV as well as C&D or should I let this go to the company that is cleaning my credit up. Not sure because I don't really think they will hit my CR. Who knows, I have read that these gys are something else though. I appreciate the help. I love coming here and getting armed with all the info that is on here.

swank -

I think I'd do the cease and desist letter, but not the debt validation. They are not likely to respond to either one, but they definitely aren't going to respond to a debt validation letter, from what I've seen about them already.

If they wouldn't tell you over the phone who the original creditor (payday lender) was, then chances are, they won't validate the debt in writing. Most payday lenders won't, because to do so would be to put their information in writing, which they hate to do. :-) (This refers only to unlicensed paday lenders, such as most of the ones found on the internet. Most of the storefront lenders are licensed and follow the law.) If they are unlicensed, they won't put anything in writing. That might be something you should ask them if they call again - ask for something in writing. I'll bet they won't give it to you.

I'm not a credit expert, and I know there are others on this site who have more info on this - please keep an eye on this thread and I'm sure over the course of the next couple of days, more members will respond with additional info for you.

I got a letter from NCA saying I owe $510 for something from SJM Marketing Corp. I dont have any idea who this is and never took any loans. I have been dealing with some Identity Theft, and a court case is currently in process in North Carolina for the person that stole my info. I have a feeling this has something to do with that. I have received 2 letters from NCA in the past month. Any advice?

I took out a loan with them early in the year,
and twice the've accessed my checking account causing a chain of bounced checks, due to the high cost of the bank charging fees of $35.00 I've talked to them and theyu won't reason with the bank to reinstate these charges....
So if I owed them 300.00. I now owe my bank the same amount
for them paying my bills and giving me a courtesy fee of 35.00 per transaction.

high interest fees for borrowing money is ridiculous. That's what the government should regulate. Don't you agree??

I recieved a phone call with no message from this place and called them back. I spoke to a 'Tom' who was well.. a total ***hole. I requested information on what he said I owed and he ranted and raved about 'how if i didn't want to pay my debt and blah blah, and that I was obviously answering 'no' to the settlement offer' He refused to state where he was from and all he would say was that it was from a payday account and the deposited money in my account in January 2007. I requested that he send me information about this through the mail, he stated that they already had, and he wasn't going to play the mail game with me. I contacted my bank that I had at the time and they were unable to locate anything. So I called 'Tom' back and stated this. At this point he was much nicer on the phone and gave me the name of the place I suppossedly took out a loan from called instant loan now. I cannot find this place online and am concerned that this is a scam. I am going to do more research on this company. But if anybody knows how to get in touch with or has heard of a webpay company called Instant Loan Now... I would love to receive the contact information for them. Thanks

I had paid $1200 on a $400 loan and they still said I owed over $1200 more. haha. They call me from about six different numbers, but I wil continue to keep telling them to kiss my ***. They told me my interest rate was in the hundreds because I never called to inform them I had made my last payment. LOL
