Ok folks....heres the scoop. My husband and I are in our first house with 2 auto loans as well. Our Mortgage is 635.00 his auto loan is 478.12 and my auto loan is 308.18. The bad factor here is we are both paid bi weekly on the same week!!! It sucks!! Well we are behind on all of these payments and I am needing suggestions on how to deal with these companies. The reason we are behind is because of illness and one of us wasnt at work for a week and a half. We only make it paycheck to paycheck anyway. Please help!! Our mortgage company is AMC and it is only behind Dec. payment but they are threatening foreclosure already. His truck is through Citi Financial and they seem to be working the best with us through this...it is only behind Dec. pymt as well. My car however is through Service Finance and it is 2months behind!! And they are threatening repossession. Who do I pay first? Obviously, it should be my mortgage but what about the car?

Well, I am not really good at this type of thing, but maybe you can work some kind of deal with the company that is the easiest to work with (maybe they can lower payments for a short period of time). Your mortgage seems like the obvious one to pay first, have you spoken to them?

I would work out the mortgage first. Got to have a roof over your head. Who is AMC? Usually the mortgage companies will work with you. Sometimes you just have to keep calling until you get the right person. Best Wishes KYSIDE38

Wells Fargo wanted to do this on us also. We just sold our house and are in the process of buying another. I know it takes 90 days to foreclose. It is tough when you dont have a company that will work with you. Who is AMC? I dont want to go with them thats for sure. KYSIDE38

You could ask Service Finance if they would do a "skip payment" so you'd only be one payment behind. One of my neighbors is 2 payments behind on her SUV and the company she has her loan with offered this option. It might help take off a bit of the pressure and keep you from having your car repo'd.

I have heard Ameriquest is not good to work with. I personally can say Wells Fargo stinks. The car payment place will work with you. Mortgage company probably not. KYSIDE38

All I know about car companies is with Ford and GMAC. They have both worked with me in the past. Thats why I think they will work with you. Its worth a shot so you can get mortgage caught up. KYSIDE38

We dealt with AMC in the foreclosure process. You will need to contact them before this goes any further to see if they can add additional to your monthly payments to catch up. They refused a check from us when we first tried to catch up but had no contact from them. It was very disheartening but they will be willing to work with you if you talk to them before this goes any further. Unfortunately, we also had to pay $1000 in attorney fees since this had already started in the foreclosure process. Once we talked to them, we had to send about half of what we were past due and they we paid extra for about nine months. Everything is now caught up but they don't give you a grace period during this time.
