It seems there is a much larger number of posts lately (just in the past few days) regarding PDL's and their increasingly aggressive collection tactics.

Could it be they all watched the 20/20 special and decided to join the "rogue collectors club"? Or is it just that they are realizing there are more and more consumers who are aware of the laws of their own state and are standing up for their rights - rights represented by the fdcpa and their state's payday lending law?

Hmmm....your thoughts?

texas - I'm noticing more posts in the collection area than anywhere else. Most of the posts are asking for help with various collection companies or PDL's, especially, and how to deal with the aggressive collection tactics they use.

kyside, you're probably right - I didn't think about the PDLs in relation to the holidays. I guess because since I found this website, I don't even consider PDL's an option myself, regardless of what time of year it is!

This forum is becoming more popular even as we speak. I think that the "good guys" are getting the word out that many PDLs are illegal and their collection tactics are illegal. People get desperate start searching for help and come along this site. Enough people read the advice and tell others and so on. I don't know if the site is completely responsible, but it is on its way to becoming very influential in the industry/field.

Texas, WV and NC are two of the leading states in this fight. I know alot of people look down on WV but I am very proud of my state. It just shows we are not the dumb people everybody thinks we are. KYSIDE38

no theres no more posts not like there used to be. you made my friends go away, now they cant post anymore. they didn't want to register because they didn't want you to opress them and tell them what to say. :cough:cough:[freedomofspeech]:cough.

why do you think the 20/20 special had anything to do with more people coming here? 212 million people watched the special, and the first thing they could think was to come here and ask stupid questions about payday loans. are you that high on your horse that you actually think anyone gave a frizzy patizzle. you caught me, i almost said the "f" word. but i caught myself, otherwise you would have started a rant about the quality of this site and i should be banned.

on another note you will be so glad to see the paydays shut down. but they will never be gone. as long as people have such bad credit that they cant go anywhere else the payday stores will always have a market for high-rate loans.

what will happen if you succeed in stopping them? where will people go when they need a quick $400 to turn their electric back on. without the payday stores your power will stay disconnected. what next, a law that says banks cant descriminate on the grounds that youve never paid anyone back before?

You know what truth_hurts, I think I will have to agree with your first post here. It seems one of my threads was deleted by a delete happy moderator, for what reason I have no clue, perhaps it did not go with a certain majority here. Needless to say, I am not happy, I post my opinion regardless of what others think, I have NEVER ONCE started a thread that was deragatory and constituted getting DELETED!

Steelers - I'm not the one who deleted your posts. I just want to make that clear. I'm not a moderator in the Pub forum, so I couldn't have deleted them.
I think you have a lot to contribute to the forum, and you do, on a daily basis. You have been very helpful to me, and I respect you too much to delete a thread started by you.

This thread was not started in an effort to start a flame war. I was stating an opinion, nothing more. I said "maybe" the debt collectors had watched the 20/20 special and decided to join the "rogue debt collectors club". It was a flip comment, made in jest. If it offended someone, I apologize.

And I am not the one who made truth_hurts' friends go away. I don't own the site. I didn't make the decision to stop guests from posting. I am here to help others, just like everyone else.

Hey, I am so glad that I came here. No matter what truth_hurts is saying. He/She said that PDLs will be around forever as long as people have bad credit. Maybe the government in all of its power will come up with an alternative. Maybe they will offer more money for debt consolidation programs that are federally funded. I wish they would shut these places down. But then again, I wished I would have asked for help before I ever stepped foot into those places.
