I have a wage garnishment from Asset acceptance

Is it an actual letter from court, or a letter from a CA that was designed to make you believe it was from a court?

I would check with your city's county clerk office, and see if they have something on file for you.

it was from a actual court but i thought that collection agencies could not do wage garnishments Am I wrong?

No, your not wrong. What is wrong is the manner in which these outfits circumvent the right of due process, be it a certified (signature required)mail letter, sheriff, constable or civil process server handing it to you at your door...

they delivered it certified letter to my place of employment. Is there anything I can do to stop this?

actually a CA can most certainly do both a wage assignment AND can civily sue to get a writ of garnishment. Don't EVER fool yourself into thinking that they can't.

All you need to do to stop the assignment is type up a letter that says as of such and such a date you do not authorize any and all wage assignments. That's reallt all you need, doesn't need to be fancy. as of 1986 this is your right to revoke. If you have any garnishment or wage assignment questions, please pm me, I can help you sort it out.
