We are needing some help getting out from under payday loans. Had to borrow due to me having surgery right after getting a house and car problems, Christmas, school things for the kids, etc. Now we are paying out almost $400 or better every 2 weeks and dont' seem to be getting anywhere. We do lilve in NC. I do recall that 2 of the companies are DebtDoctor and MagnumZ LLC. We are still struggling now to keep up with our regular bills and our bank account is always overdrawn and we cannot seem to get ahead. We could use any help that you can offer. Thank you

I am eternally grateful for my points! I've used them to help other members in the past, and when I cashed in some of them for myself, they helped me through a very tight month.

I am currently saving my points towards the trips I need to make with my kids this year to get them to see their dad in another state.

Points or no points, I am so thankful for finding this site. It has been a great help in ending the constant circle with the payday loans. If I can end the last 3 and save my house, I will be so happy! I know I have taken the information I have learned on here and have passed word to others about what they can do. I know, like myself, the few I have talked to, are none too proud of what they have gotten themselves into, but are trying to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and get the mess out of their hair. Thank you Vikas for providing someplace where people can go and see there they are not alone in their mistakes and that there is help out there and people who care enough to help others.

Ok, I too am a NC payday loan customer in a shameful situation. I have 5 loans out currently and they are all internet, so I can't find any way to track them down. Any help would be grateful. Here is my situation: (only have names as they appear on my statement and can't find contact #'s)

Northway Debit: One initial $500 loan and 5 $800 renewals. I've paid a total in fees of $1188

Big LTD: $200 initial loan $275 paid in finance fees

Impact Cash Payday Loans: $300 loan, $375 paid in fees

NLS Cash Advance: $300 loan, $514 paid back in fees

Arrowhead Investments $300 initial loan, $1710 paid back in fees.

I am currently paying about $1000 a month in fees alone. I'm about to close my account, but don't want to owe the bank a zillion dollars in overdraft fees. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

You've come to the right place for help. Have you read thorugh some of the theads on this board?

You need to consider closing your bank account. This can be tricky because most banks have a policy that if any ach transactions go through within 30-60 days of closing, they will force the account back open. So if you decide to close the account you need to make sure you tell the banker what is going on. Tell them these loans are illegal in NC, and that these companies refuse to stop debiting your account. You want to close it so you can work out other arrangements with them, but you are afraid the bank will reopen the account when the transactions come through. Most banks can put a freeze on the account so nothing will go through.

Then, start doing searches here for the companies you are dealing with. You will be able to see what to expect from each one. You need to start writing them letters, because since pdl's are illegal in NC they shouldn't have given you the loans. Involve your attorney general's office or dept of banking for some assistance.

lis65 ~ what state are you in?
How much have you borrowed?
How much have you paid.

Also did you find the email address for 6-electronic or Whistler? I cannot access things here are work, but it you need the email addresses, if you register, I can send them to you.

Both of them, at least for me, were the easiest to work with.

I borrowed $300 dollars from both companies Whistler and 6-Elsctronic pay. I have paid them over $1200. I have been trying to get intouch to get everything paid off and I found your site. I understand the law say that NC payday loans are illegal. Is there a cap on the amount they are allow to draft to repay the loans? If there is a cap, what is it and how do I proceed in getting a refund?

Here is the law for NC. I am assuming you are in NC? If you read some of the earlier posts on this thread, you can see what I have done. I know I have an email for both of those, but you need to register so that I email you their email addresses, so you can revoke authorization to debit your account. You will need a copy of these letters when you go to the bank to have these debits stopped. You will also need to file a complaint with the BBB. Now for me, I did not have a problem with any one of these companies getting things marked paid in full, so hopefully you won't either. If you want the addresses, let me know and register do I can send them to you.

Ok, I never authorized verbally or in writing for these guys to deposit funds. One day checking my account online I saw the deposit for $300.00. I jumped all over it. It took me forever to finally get a ph. # I told them I would allow the repayment of $300.00 & no more, it was agreed upon. They took $90.00 out twice I called & told them I have left $120.00 in the acct. & then we are done. Well they did not do as agreed. They took out $90.00 & left $30.00. So I closed the acct. & transferred the $30.00 into my new acct. Well a couple weeks later thier collection dept. called & tried some strong arm tactics, but it did not work. She was going to have an arrest warrant issued, told my husband "To Shut The Hell Up" I have sent a letter to them certified mail letting them know that they have violated the fdcpa laws. Well now my question. They have committed fraud by depositing the funds without my permission, right?

I've got five PDL's. I made an arrangement with Pay-Day-Loan-Yes for $127 for last month and this month to pay it off, and then I wasn't going back. The $127 for this month bounced and now they're saying that I have to pay back the full amount of $235 (and that's without one of the fees). If I don't pay it by a certain time, they will send me to court and the fees would be between $1000 - $2000. What are my options?

I think this is the right thread for me to pose my question. I took a PDA loan with these folks for $600 of which I made 1 refinance payment of $150. There was a death in my family and the two payday loans I had defaulted. I have closed my checking account and sent C&D and Wage Assignment Revocation letters to CTC aka CashTransfer via email, certified mail and fed-x.

Now I am trying to figure out what to do about EPay...I have only been contacted once, through email by a virtual debt collertor, called iCollectDebt. I was told that I had 2 days to pay a "discounted" fee of $851. I sent an email back to them requesting a payment arrangement and received a reply email that said to make arrangements with the collection company. I have not heard from the collection company and the more I think about it, I don't believe they are entitled to anything. I have been borrowing from these guys for more than 2 years and I have paid them excessive fees in the amount of about approximately $2900 over the last 2 years. I cannot find any information out about this company other than the fact that they are located in Nevada. Like Cash Transfer Centers, they do not appear to be licensed in California.

I have started receiving weird calls from an unknown number telling me of their hours of operation. No return number is ever left. My question is do I try to contact EPay in "writing" and inform them that I am not paying them another dime, file a complaint with the AG for California, as well as the BBB?

I would appreciate hearing from all of you. The interesting thing too here is that in one of the threads the name "Marsha" at E Pay is mentioned. I found an old PIF letter from EPay signed by "Marsha" in 2007.

Payday loans are totally illegal in the state of NC, period. Any lender that lends in the state are doing so illegally. Technically, you do not have to pay back the loan here in NC, but morally you should pay back only the amount you borrowed, no interest, no fees, etc. That being said, send them letters stating that they are lending illegally in NC and that you are only going to pay the initial amount you borrowed, less the amount you already paid, and then file your complaints with the BBB and the AG. Keep copies of everything. yes, they will probably harrass you and give you a bunch of bunk, but stand your ground. I would also suggest closing out your bank account and open another one somewhere else so they cannot continue to debit your account, because they will. Then tell them you need a mailing address and send them a money order, registered/certified so they have to sign for it, and go from there. Good luck.
