I remember reading some posts from puddlejumper, he says he's been having some calls from Bass & Associates as well. So you signed up on this site with an email other than your work email? Is that correct.

I dont know but he wants me to call him to talk to him about bass and assoc....I have several emails from him....kinda leary on it really...

Be careful, there were a few people who signed up as members a few months ago who were employees of Bass and Associates. You should block their e-mails.

You might want to pm Mike about this guy who keeps e-mailing you. I think I know who it is because he kept pming me about Bass & Associates too. I wouldn't reply to the e-mails though.

I recognize the threat that you or your account "will be downloaded". I have recordings of that specific threat from a company called Professional Debt Mediation. When I sued them, they told me that particular collector left the company. He used the name Stan Frazier. Tell them to go ahead and "download" you. It's just some bs threat they make because they think it will scare you into turning over your bank account number.

Interestingly, PDM and BASS both have shop in Jacksonville.

I only backed off my case because I wanted to get something for my client, several thousand, instead of forcing them into bankruptcy. Oh well, maybe next time I'll keep going until I own their whole company. If I can go that far, your debts will be forgiven as fast as Jesus forgives your sins.

I hate this company and what its employees do to people. I think they should all be locked up behind bars. I know one member that came on here quite often a few months back is an employee of Bass and Associates and informed me that many of their employees were on this forum.

I hope they are reading this so they can know that these people are learning their rights. B & A employees should beware because it is only a matter of time before they get nailed for this. FYI, the employees can be sued individually along with the company. The only way to get out of it will be to put up a bunch of your own money or hope the company covers your butt. B & A keep it up at your own risk!!

There is actually a collector from Arizona who was found guilty of extortion last year because he was threatening the debtors with arrest, etc....he was charged with extortion, arrested, and sent to jail and five years probation, also ordered to pay over $200,000 to the debtors he harassed.

That's what I'm talking about!!!! People do not have to lie down and take this from debt collectors who think they are above the law. I hope the court forces the restitution under penalty of further jail time.

Tweety71, if you get a recording of Stan Morman, send it to me and I let you know if it is the same person as Stan Frazier. If so, I will gladly share info with a lawyer in your area to nail this guy.

Very interesting read this morning. It's always nice to have lawyers on the forum, especially ones who go after the ruthless debt collectors. Debt collectors use false names all of the time. I didn't know they could be individually sued though. Thanks for the info, texaslawyer :-)

I'm scared that after these jerks get my letters they are going to harass me again. Especially National Credit Adjusters...I'm suppose to make a payment by the end of the month to them. What should I do?

i really think some bad debt collectors need to

until now i dont understand what authorities of
USA are doing for consummers.
many collections agencies are doing illegal things.
the worst and rich collections agenies still open
like some very rich banks.the money buys everything.
i want to see ftc close bad collection agencies that
are big and rich.

They can't usually close them, just get an injunction and issue civil fines. If they did close them down, they would just reincorporate under a different name and start again.

How should I address National Credit Adjusters when they call in next month wanting to know why I didnt send in a payment for Feb.

Anyone knoow how to check on a business through the AG of FL? It says you can file a complaint or check on a business but I'm not locating how to look up a business?

Anyone ever recieve an email from the FTC saying what they did with your complaint?

It really didnt say anything.. Is this the norm or will I hear from them later?

There is a standard response from the FTC so probably what you received was the normal. This gets the complaint on file with them. The more complaints against an unscrupulous company, the better. Has NCA validated the debt in writing?

No, they wont send me anything in writing....this was for a 300.00 loan and I have paid back $ 133.50. NCA wants another 451.50 for it. (not a happy camper) :)

Do you have their physical address to mail a DV letter to them? I had one that refused to validate the debt in writing and refused to give me their mailing address. I found it and sent the DV letter anyway. This way I know my butt is covered. Let me know if you need help finding it.

I am disgusted with the illegal tactics that most collecters utilize. I wish that someone would go under cover into these agencies, and act like one of them. Get as much dirt and training methods as they can, then put it on the news. And if any collecters, such as Ass, I mean, Bass and Associates are reading this; Kiss my ass, you pieces of shit!!!

We are keeping an eye on all of you illegal collectors.

You know what's funny? One of their DBA's called me in December at my then job to collect on a loan from mycashnow. I had been fighting mycashnow for over a year because of how much I had overpaid them. Before that, I sent out complaints against them. A couple of days ago in the mail, I received a letter from mycashnow stating my account was PIF. This is not going to settle the matter, especially since they sicked these idiots on me. At least I have a more updated address for mycashnow.

This company is quite comical. Where they come up with these ludicrous threats is beyond me. But what is sad is that these illegal threats scare and work on some people. I would love to go to Florida with a group of people and just picket their joint, maybe with signs telling them to pay their own damn bills before they start harassing others. :twisted:

The better Business Bureau says that Bass has no official office, so we could stake out in front of the UPS store and wait to see who goes to box 323. Then we can have a news crew there, and Chris Hanson from Dateline interrogate them. Damn, that would be fun as hell.

Is Bass and Associates a real company? I had a lady from there call and threaten me said I was going ot jail if I didnt pay and so I paid them over $600. She never sent me varification that I paid and Whenever I call I leave a message and nobody every calls me back.

They are a collection agency based out of Jacksonville, Florida. They use a po box from the UPS Store as their mailing address. They cannot threaten jail when collecting on a debt. They are famous for these kind of threats. I would recommend filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, Federal Trade Commission, The Attorney General in Florida as well as your home state.

I only borrowed $200 from a company called Arrowhead And Bass and Assoc. made me pay them back over $600. Was that legal?
