Allied Interstate collecting for my daughters medical bills

allied interstate called my cell phone. How they got that number I don't know. They asked for my daughter who is 19. She does have some medical bills but she is not here half the time. I inquired as to what kind of business allied interstate is. The lady told me it was a confidential matter and they would talk to my daughter about it and she has the number. She then hung up on me when I tried to question them further. My daughter is in kind of a fragile state and I was not going to let them talk to her like that even if she had been here. I called my daughter. She had never heard of them. I collect the mail everyday so I know we have never received anything from them. I called the number in my history of calls. They answered asking for my daughter immediately in the first second by name. I said this is her mother and I have her permission to speak with them. The woman said it doesnt work like that and I said what kind of business is this. Is it a police matter(she was in a car accident), a bill matter so I could relay the information. She said it was confidential. I said this is my cell phone. She demanded the number in which my daughter could be reached. I said I will not give that to you.(She is a nanny for a family)She stated "We will call back" I said this is my cell phone so don't. I dont know if she had heard that because they have hung up.


It looks like allied interstate is the only collection agency that seems to be doing all sorts of collections, everywhere. How do they get so many files? :twisted:

Just do a search on Allied Interstate here and you will read about their shady collections. You are not the only one complaining against them. You will be surprised after reading some posts.

AAAARGH! They called again. I didn't answer it the first time but the second time I did, only to receive some automated mumbo jumbo. I hit the call back button and when they answered I told them that I am not the person they want to talk to(even though I am her mom) and to stop calling me. The woman then proceeded to try and talk over me, "doesn't she live there?" I didn't answer it though she repeated it 2 times, I was too busy talking over her stating "This is MY cell phone, do not call it" I then hung up on her. I don't have any hope of that working, do I? All I can say is they have awoken a mother bear! To all parents, family and friends, give them no information whatsoever!

Sweetsuzy By federal law they are not allowed to talk to third parties about anything! The operator did their job properly by requesting contact info only. If your were to have a legal power of attorney,that would be different. If you desire them to not call you,do a search for their address on this board and send them a full cease and desist letter not to contact you at all since it is not your debt. Send certified return receipt for legal proof they received it.

yes, I know, but it was worth a shot seeing if they would. Problem I had initially is they would not even let me know what kind of business it was. Insurance, bill collectors, police, job related? I only guessed it was bill collectors because of the total rudeness and tone they took with me. My daughter has several job applications out there so I was asking who was calling me so I could relay the information. Any business would have stated what type of business it was other than bill collections.
